And now as he continues being impugned, marginalized as the duplicitous, sinister megalomaniac he's been outed to be, he believes he's somehow going to redeem himself with these laughably transparent gestures convincing anyone that he's some sort of man of principle, of conviction to throw out how he's considering banning such activity. It's as patently embarrassing as when it was claimed he knew nothing about the spying.

It points out the utter sense of insecurity, lack of anything he himself believes him to watch as he flounders like some sea creature on the deck of a fishing trawler.

Having him "consider" banning such activity for allied nations as a result of a deepening diplomatic crisis,there doesn't seem to be the same sort of moral conflict regarding the surveillance, spying on American citizens.

Shouldn't Americans be privy to the same sort of privilege as that of foreign countries' heads of state?

A propaganda story put out by Obama. Again, Obama is surprised by the disclosure of NSA spying, which he learned about only recently. He is the outsider not responsible for anything. He hopes the world leaders will love him again.

Just as was the case with the Obamacare rollout, Obama is more angry and upset about this than anyone else. He will make sure that it is corrected and these damned bureaucrats are reined in.

The question is, just who does obama and company consider "friendly" and who do they consider "not friendly."

As a law abiding citizen I'd like the same consideration as friendly foreign heads of state: don't spy on me! I don't have anything to hide, but the lack of trust it suggests is insulting. There's also the 4th Amendment:

It's good to see the US continue to lead the way for other nations - while the other governments of the world quaintly continue to spy on each other, our government boldly renounces this outdated 20th century practice and forges ahead with the less costly, more efficient innovation of spying on it's own citizens.

Not only is spying on US citizens easier than spying on foreign heads of state, it also consumes less fuel for foreign trips, thereby making it sexy, sustainable "green" spying, certified by the EPA not to endanger polar bears.

My, yes, he "may" ban spying on other members of the international elite or he "may" not, but we must all understand that no such tiny tremor of conscience will be coming our way in that regard. My, no.

Time, I think, to shut the NSA down completely. I am aware of its value as a clearing-house for intelligence. In a sane government it would be that, ethically run, or at least as close to it as feasible. In an ignorant, arrogant, power-hungry and abusive government, it is a fantastically dangerous object. Weigh the value against the abuse. In a sane time, the value obviously would be greater. In an abusive time, the price is too great to pay.
