President Obama to campaign for Terry McAuliffe

President Barack Obama will campaign for Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe this weekend, giving a late boost to McAuliffe as he seeks to energize core Democratic voters in an off-year governor’s race, Democratic sources told POLITICO.

Obama is set to appear at a Sunday afternoon get-out-the-vote rally in Northern Virginia. It will be the president’s first campaign appearance for McAuliffe, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

McAuliffe’s campaign has been working to activate many of the same voters who carried Virginia for Obama in 2008 and 2012: young people, independent women and African American, Latino and Asian American voters. Some of those groups – particularly young and nonwhite voters — tend to participate at lower rates in non-presidential elections.

The Democrat currently has held a consistent polling lead over his Republican opponent, state Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. A Washington Post survey published Monday found McAuliffe 12 points ahead of the GOP nominee.

Both candidates have turned their attention in recent days to firing up the party faithful ahead of the Nov. 5 vote.

I agree.

His eyes do NOT match his smile.

To me, he looks like a psychopath.

In reality it should be the kiss of death for MaCauliffe.

Obama loves to campaign and its a short flight for Marine 1.
Obama would campaign for Beelzebob if he was a Democrat, which he probably is.
Northern Va. is filled with Hispanics and Vietnamese.

This can only mean that McAuliffe is way down in the polls and has no choice but to throw a Hail Mary.

The irony is that this will only hurt McAuliffe chances as Obama is one if the least popular presidents in history.

McAuliffe is way up in the polls. They are bringing in Obama so that O. can take some credit for the win.

I'm sure Obama will play to the usual handpicked crowd of adoring fans and the media will give it wall-to-wall coverage so we all will know how popular he is.

The campaign isn't for McAuliffe; it's for Obama.

Just heard Mia Farrow’s kid on MSNBC saying that the public craves the Clintons’ “honesty”.

Yes, I’m sober!

I see it the opposite. The rats are going to win this, so they will let the buffoon campaign. This way the media can tell us how popular he still is, never mind the polls that say otherwise. Hope I am wrong

One can only hope McCauliffe fails by large margins,
which will highlight the Obama death touch.

Endorsed by the former impeached president bill clinton
and his failure of a wife.

Hahahahah.

When I heard this on the news this morning, I had the thought: “Is McAuliffe actually in worse shape, based upon internal Dem polls, than the MSM polling is saying?”

I personally some students, including a couple ROTC students where I work, who have been campaigning and going door to door for Cucinelli despite the fact that they personally disagree with and oppose Cucinelli on pretty much every social issue there is. And it is basically because, aside from just how much of a monstrous tool McAuliffe is, he also is slightly less qualified to run a state’s economy than a 9 year old with his first lemonade stand. And anyone whose been conscious during Terry’s campaign can see this.

I’ve been door knocking every day the past week. I went out this afternoon and I’ve seen a lot of new enthusiasm for Cuccinelli. Bringing in Obama I think is a wrong move from McAuliffe. The mess with Obamacare is resonating. One lady told me flat out that she had been undecided till she saw the news that Obama was campaigning for McAuliffe. I’m out again tomorrow. I’m going out every day till election day God willing.

I’m not sure but I do believe McAuliffe fears that the black vote won’t turn out. The problem is bringing Obama into the race puts a big spotlight on McAuliffe and ties him to Obamacare which is falling apart. Tonight I met two voters who were not party GOP who are voting Republican one because Obamacare is causing his premiums to go up and the other because she saw Obama was campaigning for McAuliffe. I’ve talked to a lot of people and that was the first I’d seen such a strong response. I just hope it is enough going into this last phase. I wish Ken had enough money to totally saturate Virginia with ads tying McAuliffe to Obama and Obamacare.

You’ve got that right. McAuliffe may be making a big mistake bringing the President in. Many people don’t realize McAuliffe is an Obama clone.

I take this as meaning McAwful is on the ropes and they figure if they're going to lose anyway they might as well let President Trayvon have a go at it.

I read it exactly the opposite way.

They've decided McAuliffe can't lose, so they'll let Obama show his face so his sycophants can say he closed the deal for McAuliffe.

If McAuliffe wins, I’m not moving back to Virginia after my stint here in Italy. I’m thinking one of the Ts: Tennessee or Texas!
