New Yorker Mag Cover Slams Obama and Sebelius By Noel Sheppard Created 11/01/2013 - 11:10am

Don't look now, but even New Yorker magazine is piling on the disaster that is ObamaCare.

Take a gander at the cover for the issue to hit newstands Monday:

For our younger readers that might not get all of the jokes here, the computer appears to be one of the first available to the public in the '70s.

The technician on the left is trying to insert a floppy disc which probably ceased being used about ten years ago or so.

The hammer and screw driver should be obvious.

As for Obama, he's holding one of the original cellphones dating back to the '80s.

Add it all up, the folks at New Yorker are making the case that when it comes to technology, this administration is in the dark ages.

PAYCHECKS!

(all the data you need...as long as it is 80 columns or less!)

[woe unto him who drops his stack of punch cards and did not think to number them beforehand!)

That's by Barry Blitt, who did the famous "fist bump" cover.

He's one of the few people at the magazine to do anything even remotely critical of Obama (though he's also gone after Bush and Romney and McCain).

Satire is a slippery thing and people will disagree about just who or what is being satirized and how harshly.

The cellphone looks like “The Brick”.

That phone is the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, introduced in 1983.

Is it me or does Katherine Syphilis look like Andy Warhol in drag?

At the time I retired from U. Dayton Research Institute, I may have had the last box of those anywhere in the world except in computer museums. They were being used as a doorstop.

I used to support quite a few businesses that used Mod IIs. Each one had a distinctive sound when those 8” floppies kicked in.
