Australian Doc to lose license for refusing to perform sex-selection abortion

Girl. Disposable.

It’s a nightmarish scenario for Australian physician Dr. Mark Hobart, 55, who stands to lose his license for refusing to perform a sex-selection abortion and then for not referring the couple on to another physician.

She told Dr. Hobart her husband wanted a son, not a daughter.

It’s important to know that the woman went to another doctor, had the abortion a few days later, and lack of access to abortion is not the reason Hobart, a practicing Catholic with an impeccable 30-year career, is under siege by the Medical Board of Victoria. There is no need for an abortion referral in a country with wide-open abortion laws.

Dr. Hobart and his defenders complain that he is being denied the information he needs to defend himself.

“Dr Hobart’s repeated requests for the identity of his accusers and the substance of the complaint have been rebuffed by the board and its parent body, the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency,” reports Miranda Devine of the Herald Sun. Devine wrote that Victorian MP Christine Campbell introduced a statement on Dr Hobart’s behalf to a Legislative Council inquiry into AHPRA.

Devine says Dr. Hobart “is at risk of losing his licence to practice medicine because the secrecy of the [board] is making it difficult for him to defend himself.”

Devine wrote that AHPRA told Dr 'Own Motion' against him at a meeting on 9 May, and that a majority of members present voted in favour.”

What Devine described as a "Star Chamber inquiry" began after Dr. Hobart disclosed in a Herald Sun article in April that a patient had asked for a sex-selection abortion. The context was a bill sponsored by the Democratic Labor Party’s John Madigan to remove Medicare funding for sex-selection abortions. …

“Three weeks after the story appeared, he received a letter from AHPRA advising him the Board had initiated an inquiry into 'your professional conduct, following receipt of information that indicates you may have failed in your obligation to refer a female patient seeking treatment or advice on abortion to a non-objecting practitioner.'"

Dr. Hobart said he knew of no doctor who would agree to abort a healthy baby for sex selection reasons. "The general response from my colleagues is disbelief and revulsion," he told Devine.

The conclusion to "Doctor risks his career after refusing abortion referral" is poignant and ironic:

“Dr Hobart says the investigation 'affects you… You get anxious and think, 'Am I doing the right thing?'"

"But I cannot find any reason why I should obey this law. It’s just plain wrong.

"The irony is that Victoria’s abortion laws, among the most extreme in the world, were driven by a bipartisan feminist agenda. Yet now those laws are being used to punish a doctor who refused to participate in the sort of selective abortion of female fetuses which has made girl babies an endangered species in India and other patriarchal societies.

"For the patient, at least, there is a happy ending.

"She became pregnant again, but refused to find out the sex.

“Her baby [was due last weekend], and only when it is born will the father know if he has a son or another daughter.”

Dr. Mark Hobart

But if he advertized that he was now open for appointments to pulp up little girls, I suppose he'd get an award from the Ethics Committee of his Medical Board.

I stand -- or kneel --- to applaud this man.

That’s what standing up to this awful culture looks like.

No excuse, wimpy Republicans, abortion-crazy dems and compliant insurance companies, bribed judges

forget the whole sex-selection issue. the left has screamed at us they aren’t babies, so discussing gender of a non human fetus by a libtard who’s screamed at us they aren’t people, is irrational and hypocritical.

now per abortion in general, to refuse to do it because it’s murder, no matter the reason, now let’s start the discussion there, and the hippocratic oath.

“happy ending “ for the patient ?

She had her daughter murdered to appease an abusive a**hole that doesn’t deserve the title husband.

Unless I have seriously misunderstood God’s words ,and those of Jesus, people who cause suffering of the children, and what suffering is more harmful than being killed, are in for a “warm welcome”.

God told the Israelites not to follow the worshippers of Moloch who sacrificed the firstborn.

There are real reasons to suppose that the woman in this case was forced to have an abortion by her husband when he found out the sex of the child. She’s managed to avoid that situation the second time round.

Pro-abortion ‘feminists’ in Australia are having difficulties with this one, as it looks very much like the woman did not have the ‘choice’ they keep talking about.

Wow. So he’s going to make a wonderful father to a son? What he did to his poor little girl...

And the mother? Just wow. So glad I’m getting older. I feel for my grandkids and the world they’re growing up in. God help them.

So the stupid mother gets pregnant again, doesn’t want to have to dispose of another baby, so doesn’t find out the gender.

So, what happens if daddy is surprised by the birth of a little girl? What a screwed up bunch. Poor child.

We're going to see a lot more of this: doctors threatened with lawsuit, loss of license, etc. for refusing immoral medical procedures: abortion, transsexual surgery, sterilization, assisted suicide, euthanasia of the handicapped, "terminal sedation" with starvation/dehydration for the elderly, artificial insemination of lesbians, IVF of "gestational carriers" to produce babies for gay male couples, endocrine disruptors for teenagers (for genderbending or contraceptive purposes)etc.

It ewas so much more sane when sole purpose of healthcare was health.

If the AMA had not gone pro abortion from the beginning, perhaps they would not have to be going through all of this

But it’s a ‘first they came for...’ situation

They can cry me a river

Not this brave man

“The abortion culture will extinguish itself in the next 20 years.”

India has already outlawed sex-se;ective abortions, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the US does as well. Once children are no longer desired, who would want a female child? They’d probably prefer stronger offspring that doesn’t go insane when they reach 13 years old...
