I used to walk over to Juarez a lot to have lunch at the old market... it was safe then. Here is a video I shot over there just a few days after it got so rowdy they deployed troops on the streets.

I used to spend a lot of time there, including dating the locals, Juarez was the only city where I ran into the practice of, having to take her escort along.

I’ve done business with a Mexican asphalt and heavy oil dealer in Juarez. While I never felt threatened by anyone, I did make it a point to be back in El Paso before nightfall.

Without reading the article, the headline tells me the Juarez is once again becoming the Murder Capital of Mexico.
