Despite Easy Win, Christie Still at War With GOP Base
NewsMax ^ | John Gizzi

By winning Tuesday night in a landslide election for his second term as governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie moved so far to the left, it may be difficult for him to win the Republican nomination for president come 2016. The GOP governor won in one of the bluest states, where President Barack Obama beat Republican Mitt Romney by 18 points in 2012. To win, Christie had to morph close to not only blue-state values and views, but become close to Obama himself — and he did just that.

I’d rather be hated for what I am than loved for what I am not.

I’d rather lose an election because of my principles than to win an election by pandering.

I’ll not vote for a RINO for pres, and Whale-O-Rama is indeed the very definition of a RINO.

That’s a promise.

I held my nose and voted for Dole...what a joke.

I held my nose again and voted for McDork ...even bigger joke.

I held my nose once again (really stupid, eh) and voted for RINOmney. Waste O’time.

So, if it’s a RINO again, no vote from me. Why waste my time?

Shove it, Republican party. Shove it up your smelly RINO Obamaholes.

“What's fer election, Grandpa Jones?”

*indistinct muttering from the next room*

“Warmed over RINO, again?!?!
But we've been having RINO since 2008. Can't we have something else?

A Conservative?

A third party?

Soylent Green...anything but RINO!”

It’s all in how you define “base”. The elites redirected money from Virginia to a sure win in NJ. It looks like to me that there’s a bigger war that should have occurred months ago.

Ditto. I voted for all the RINOS I am going to in this lifetime. Even if I held my nose and voted for the Juan and Mitt, the stench from Christy is too much to bear. Don’t try talking me into voting for that turd in 2016 - I won’t!

Enlighten me please. What left wing policies has Christie advanced? I know he picked a prochoice Lt. Gov. but what else?

Christie has had many opportunities to extend goodwill and close ranks with the base. Instead of doing that he has purposely distanced himself from those opportunities. Romney to his credit (and I’ve never been a fan of Romney)did many things to reach out in donations to Tea Party candidates prior to his race in 2012. He even helped Cuccinelli with fundraising in our Virginia race over the summer and would have probably have campaigned for him if it would’ve helped. Christie’s problem is bigger because he is so clearly about his glory. He endorsed Lonegan for example but did nothing to help him and did nothing to help his party by scheduling a special election for Senate earlier than the regular election. It is very probable that had Lonegan had till yesterday with full support of Christie he would’ve won in the Christie Landslide. Instead the only one who won was Christie. Christie even refused to help in Virginia when he was asked. We conservatives are accused of not uniting but it seems that we are the only ones who do. We turned out for Romney, we turned out for McCain. We closed ranks around Scott Brown even with reservations and in those blue states with Rhinos like Susan Collins if the Conservatives in those states stayed home those Rhinos would have long ago lost to Democrats.

Christie can say he is a conservative all he wants and while he is markedly better than a Democrat he is doing nothing to help his party or conservatives. If he were we’d be more apt to support him. We need to be smart going into 2016 and make sure that we don’t have a bunch of also ran conservatives and wannabees running in the Presidential primary. We need to stop letting the msm run our debates. We need to take control of the process because there is no doubt that they intend to inflict Chris Christie on us which is why the RNC was dumping money into the NJ race which did not need it and had cut off money to Virginia. They are creating a narrative to lift up Christie as the heir apparent.

I don’t think the GOP-E understands that many of us will NOT vote for a moderate again. If it is Christie v Hillary, I’ll sit out the Race of the Lard Butts!

Other than refusing to fight obamacare, leaning into gun registration, falling for global warming/climate change and throwing his hands up on gay marriage, I guess not much.

Will you renounce all association with RINOs in the future? Have you reached the point of voting for hillary over Christie or Jeb Bush or anyone else who didn’t stand by Ted Cruz with at a minimum respect for what he accomplished? I have.

I’ll sit out the Race of the Lard Butts!

the problem with that strategy is that the Democraps won't sit it out...This attitude is exactly why Obama is president and Romney isn't.....too many wouldn't vote for what they considered a RINO and too many wouldn't vote for a Morman.....pathetic excuses if you ask me!!
