Ireland to hold referendum on same-sex marriage

The Irish Government has announced that it will hold a nation-wide referendum to seek approval for the legalization of same-sex marriage in this predominantly Catholic country before the summer of 2015. The Catholic Church said it will actively push for a rejection of this proposal.

It will pass overwhelmingly. As of last year, the Irish public approved of same-sex marriage by 3 to 1.
