Obama to pressure Perry on health care during Texas visit
Politico44 A Living Diary of the Obama Presidency ^ | 11/5/13 | JENNIFER EPSTEIN

President Barack Obama plans to call on Texas Gov. Rick Perry – one of the most prominent Obamacare foes in the country - to follow the lead of a handful of other Republican governors and agree to the expansion of Medicaid in the state as he visits Dallas on Wednesday.

"This isn’t a political issue. This is about making sure people where they live have access to good quality, affordable health care," White House deputy senior adviser for communications and strategy David Simas said Tuesday as he previewed the president's trip.

Obama will ask Perry and the Republican majority in the Texas Legislature to join with fellow Republicans in Arizona, Ohio and Michigan to expand Medicaid. Texas leaders, Simas said, should "put politics aside and not deny people health care out of ideology or politics."

I hope Gov. Perry tells Obama (Mr. 39%) to F.O. on national TV.

“...put politics aside and not deny people health care out of ideology or politics”

Correct reply to the Marxist: “Obamacare denies people health care, and it’s passage into law was ALL about ideology and politics.”

I do hope that Perry has the presence of mind to say “FU” both to Obama and to the horse he rode in on.

Unlike the Federal Government states can’t just print more money when they run out. I shudder to think about all the States that are going to be wiped out by “expanded” Medicaid within a few years.

RIck, DON’T drink the koolaid 0’s bringing you. He could get a leopard to hand over its spots and he may try to promise you money from “his” (the taxpayer’s) stash to get you to pledge allegiance to him and Allah. I would cancel the meeting before he tries to con you into turning the state blue.

So, like, Perry is gonna find a horse head in his bed? ‘Cause that’s the only way Obama has any chance of getting something here.

Texas leaders, Simas said, should "put politics aside and not deny people health care out of ideology or politics."

So in other words, do as we say and not as we do.

"This isn’t a political issue. This is about making sure people where they live have access to good quality, affordable health care"

That's the crux of the issue - "where they live."

If TX stands firm, then the foolish states that didn't do the Medicaid expansion will see lots and lots of losers moving to live to cheek-by-jowl with them. TX wins, other states lose.

It's a great plan. I hope they stick with it to the end.
