Racial profiling is pure conjecture here, based on what’s in the article, but if you shoot someone in the head the DA will be very likely to bill it as 2nd degree murder. It shows intent to kill not merely intent to stop the threat.

I do not answer the door if I don’t clearly know who’s knocking and do want them inside my home. If one is truly ‘lost’ at that time, do not rely on the kindness of strangers at that hour. Get to a police department or hospital or firestation. Otherwise, you are making a target out of yourself. 2.30am is working hours for the out of town faceless crook.

I live in a very rural area. We recently had the door ring 4 times at 11:30 one night. I know thieves like to use the “car broke down” gambit to get into a person’s home. Our area is a great target as it would take the cops half and hour to get there. So, I met the door properly armed. No one there. Go figure. Crazy-assed cracker brought his shootin’ irons and the pussies ran away.

If there actually was a crashed vehicle, then speculating that this was one of those scams is just silly. I have never heard of anyone actually crashing a car in order to fool someone into opening their door at night.
I detest radical islam, but I would be among the first to say there are many muslims who just want to work and live a normal life. The muslims, newly arrived in Detroit are perhaps in their element and well suited to man the stores and gas stations. Muslims from Iraq or Syria are used to facing extreme danger and living through that moment. If they can be tolerant of the Christians who were there before them, great, if not, they should move.

Who forced her? My cell phone dies all the time. It’s a nice to have not need to have. Did fine for 40+ years without one.
