A Question for Mitch McConnell: Will Any Reporter Ask It?
redstate.com ^ | 11/8/13 | Erick Erickson

Mitch McConnell and his merry band of lobbyists have a clever little line attacking the Senate Conservatives Fund. They claim the Senate Conservatives Fund (“SCF”) has gotten more Democrats elected than the Democratic National Committee.

It’s their favorite attack these days, now that attacking SCF for raising money has proved fruitless given that this particular attack is being made by dandified lobbyists and other hangers on.

But reporters, if they are not lazy, will need to ask a question.

The Senate Conservatives Fund has only helped nominate two Tea Party candidates who went on to lose the general election.

In Delaware, a week before the primary with Christine O’Donnell up double digits against Mike Castle, SCF endorsed her. She went on to lose the general.

In Colorado, SCF endorsed Ken Buck who barely lost to the Democrat in a year the Colorado GOP completely imploded, the NRSC diverted resources to help his opponent in the primary, and then the NRSC poured an overabundance of resources into trying to win California.

That’s it. Again, the Senate Conservatives Fund has only helped nominate two Tea Party candidates who went on to lose the general election.

On the other hand Mitch McConnell supported Rick Berg, Denny Rehberg, Carly Fiorina, Linda McMahon, George Allen, and Tommy Thompson. All lost to Democrats.

More so, had McConnell won the primaries where he fought the Senate Conservatives Fund, we would now have a Republican Conference composed of Senators Specter (assuming he was still alive), Crist, Dewhurst, Bennett, and Grayson.

So some enterprising reporter should ask Mitch McConnell this question: given that the Senate Conservatives Fund has a better record than Mitch McConnell of getting Republicans elected to the Senate, shouldn’t he be supporting Matt Bevin?

Time for a REALITY check, Mitch:

1.) What have you EVER done to reverse the steamrolling success against the US Constitution and the US Congress of B. Hussein Obama and Harry Reid?

2.) Has Harry Reid ever thanked you for coming up with your “Continuing Resolutions” to bypass the need to have a Federal Spending Budget for 5 years?

This 2014 fight is going to be waged by the most wicked Rino’s, they will fight harder than they ever have, or will against dems, and they will have full support of the dems, who will spend whatever it takes to defeat the Tea Party.

John Mccain, Mitch McConnell, and John Boehner have done more damage to the Republican party than the Tea party has ever been guilty of.

The Tea party is about to retire Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell, still they ignore it. They better wake up or they will be sitting on the sidelines.

Whoa! What a difference. I wonder how much the NRSC is pulling in, though they’re connected with the aristocracy so they can always count on having enough.

In 1994, a very conservative woman (Linda Smith) from WA state won my district on a write-in. Part of Newt’s army.

In 1996, McConnell campaigned for her GOP candidate because she would not tow the line when she saw Newt want to spend, spend, spend.

She was voted out that year.

I have been somewhat amused at the attacks against McConnell by self proclaimed Tea Party Conservatives. Remember the old saying that “The enemy of my Enemy is my Friend”. Well, McConnell is enemy target number 1 for the Democrats and it seems that they now have allies. Maybe they should join the Democrats in throwing money towards Mc Connell’s primary opponent. That might make it more possible that we will have a Democrat Senator from KY in 2015.

I am amused somebody thinks Mighty Mouse Mitch McConnell is the #1 enemy of the Dems. What the Dems really hate is those who oppose and engage them. McConnell doesn’t do that. He’s happy to make deals favorable to the Dems as long as he gets a cut for his donors. He negotiated over the illegal recess appointments (why? they ruled illegal by the courts), preemptively surrendered on cloture CR, gave the kenyan a blank check on the debt limit (several times), etc., etc.

McConnell is no enemy of the Dems. He gives them nearly everything they want without even a fight! LOL.

Although I essentially agree with this post it is not 100% accurate. They helped push for Richard Mourdock who lost to Donnely in Ind.

You should pay more attention to the number of times over the past number of years that McConnell has determinivly and intentionally undermined conservatives in both the House and Senate. He has an “r” next to his name and votes like a conservative to give himself cover, and if he were a back-bencher with his voting record, I would support him. But as republican leader, he is a conniving, undermining, helpmate to the democrats.

If we are going to have any changes in the senate, we need to remove the leadership. That means McConnell and Cornyn. They are not conservatives. They are aristocrats who do not believe that they should answer to the people. McConnell especially believes that he should hold the office until he decides to retire or is taken out by a democrat. In his mind, that is the natural order of things, the only two ways he should leave office. The idea that the people should be able to choose another republican for the office is abhorrent to him. And he will fight tooth and nail to maintain his office and destroy any (conservative)opposition.

McConnell barely won last time and if he’s the nominee again, he will lose and there WILL be a democrat in the seat in 2015. Bevin can beat Grimes. McConnell cannot.
