[D-KY]Alison Lundergan Grimes Really Wants You to Know How Much She Likes Guns
National Journal ^ | 11/9/2013 | Matt Berman

Posted on 11/09/2013 6:03:22 AM PST by markomalley

The week's almost over, and political campaigns know as well as anyone that it's hard to get traction on a Friday afternoon. So the campaign of Kentucky Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes has decided to shake things up a bit.

A little after 1 p.m., Grimes's campaign sent out a press blast inviting Mitch McConnell "to join her on gun range." The full text:

As an NRA member, my strong support for the Second Amendment is unquestioned. I am proud of Kentucky's long-held gun ownership, sporting and hunting traditions. It is unfortunate that Senator McConnell is desperate to mislead Kentucky voters about my strong support for the Second Amendment. In the Senate, I will protect my fellow Kentuckians' right to keep and bear arms. Whenever he's not busy pandering to Washington lobbyists, I welcome Senator McConnell to come shoot with me at the range any day.

The photo up top came along as well. The thing is, as random as this may seem, it's actually pretty important for Grimes's Senate chances for you to know that she's a big fan of guns. Because the National Rifle Association is already getting ready to spend big in the race.

This Friday, Mitch McConnell is getting the NRA's "Defender of Freedom" award. And it's planning on throwing its full financial weight into the race. "We're going to make sure that gun owners in Kentucky understand that they have a champion representing them in the United States Senate," NRA lobbyist Chris Cox told Kentucky's Lexington Herald-Leader this week. With more than $11 million on hand for 2014, the NRA's support for McConnell, Cox says, will be at full strength.

And Kentuckians believe that guns do more good for society than ill by a 65 percent to 27 percent margin, according to a Courier-Journal Bluegrass poll from earlier this year. There was some wiggle room here for reformers, though: 75 percent of respondents support background checks on gun buyers. The Grimes-McConnell race appears to be massively tight, and although there's a long way to go until Election Day, an issue like gun rights could be a difference maker.

Of course, Grimes didn't mention any of that in her press statement. But no seemingly-random political email lives in a vacuum.

The she must be an idiot as anyone in that party is either a communist, an islamist or too damned stupid to recognize the difference.

How does that old saying go—When you have to tell people you are something, you really aren’t—or something to that effect?

Watch what they do, not what they say.

If she’s so conservative (on guns, at least, or so she says), why is she a Democrat? The fact that she belongs to that party is all you need to know.

No hearing or eye protection and a halter top to boot. At least she isn’t left handed with that top on. Ever see what happens to a woman’s boob when a hot casing lands between the boobs? I witnessed that one time and the gal couldn’t get her top and bra off fast enough. Nice .308 casing brand on the right boob.

Of course, I believe she’s a true 2nd amendment supporter. Not. Didn’t she say something to the effect that if you like your gun(s) you can keep your gun(s)? Politicians, especially dems, will say anything to get elected, pass legislation, etc. Matt Bevin for senate 2014.

I’m no gun safety expert. But the pistol laying on the table with a perfectly good case to it’s left and the fact that it looks like she’s shooting towards the barn are not exactly smart either.

You obviously haven’t seen her in person. She is not very attractive and her big mouth never closes. This is the race she said she wouldn’t run. Just two years ago when she won the office of Secretary of State she vowed to fulfill her full term. that of course was a lie. She is also completely against voter ID laws. She campaigned with her elderly and now deceased grandmother saying that her grandmother was in very poor health and should not have to be inconvenienced by having to obtain an ID to vote. I have often wondered if her grandmother died because she couldn’t get treated at a hospital because she didn’t have ID. Never trust a woman with three names and especially one who looks like she started life out as a man.

Grimey made a huge mistake by inviting Michelle Obama to speak at her NYC fundraiser: http://www.kentucky.com/2013/11/18/2939179/alison-lundergan-grimes-attends.html

Michelle made sure to mention how they need Grimey in the Senate to vote for gun control; McConnell has *got* to put that in an ad.

Gun control!!! Does Michelle think what happens during NYC girl power liberal fund-raisers stays in NYC? That was a gigantic boner!! She also did Tennant and Nunn (and Hagan and Landrieu) no favors. Your girls are running in conservative states, Shelly!!

Was this supposed to be closed to the media? I can’t believe she associated gun control and her husband’s disaster health care law with these candidates.
