Shortly after the article went public General McChrystal retired. A follow up report by the Defense Department Inspector General found that most of the article was untrue.
As a result of the article, Hasting became a celebrity. He became popular with MSM journalists, media names and Democrat Party operatives. Later he would claim he was working on a big secret story. This may or may not have been an exaggeration.
That being said, I have always felt the official version of his death and witness accounts did not make sense. There is more to his death than has been reported.
This article, for the most part, is a dishonest version of Hasting’s life. The article is full of less than accurate praise and is meant to make him appear far more important and good than he actually was.It contains almost no information on the details of Hastings death.
The “shadowy subculture” (aka “conspiracy kooks”) have been following this story for months. And the MSM is just now getting wind of it. An ambitious young journalist got blown up in his car because he uncovered some seriously damaging information about the Obama administration. And since his death, several of his friends and acquaintances have come up dead or missing. How long did you think they’d be able to keep a lid on this story?
How ironic that a “progressive” journalist was likely murdered by the kind of all-powerful government that progressives have always wanted.
Rolling Stone had announced after his death, they would publish the story he was working on in October. They never did. Also, a few days after RS’s announcement of the plan to publish his story, Brennan made a statement he would allow the Benghazi witnesses to be made available to congress. Brennan has lots of friends I’m sure.

The response to the question is “Yes, yes he could have.” I’m not ruling out the possibility that somebody messed with him or the car or both beforehand. I’m also not inclined to discount the possibility that even paranoid, controversial left-wing jourbalists* can get themselves killed speeding on the surface streets of LA with no outside help whatsoever.
