NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Chicken from China has officials on alert, including U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.)
As WCBS 880’s Jim Smith reported Sunday, Schumer said first, the U.S. Department of Agriculture only allowed chickens that had been processed in China to be sold in the U.S. Now, he said the USDA plans to green-light poultry raised and slaughtered in China.

I would not buy ANY food product from China; especially poultry.
Hard to believe however chicken would be coming here from China. They are massive importers from us of chicken, pork; and feedgrains (corn and soybeans) to raise animals.

Schumer realizes that he might wind up eating Chinese-grown chicken someday. It helps him make a rational decision.

There was an article here a while back that the USDA was planning to send chickens to China for processing.
I think big business is planning to grow them here, ship them to china so the slaves can cut them up, and then ship back.
Two questions; how is this cheaper? and who in their right mind thinks this is a good idea.

In the US it is let the seller beware, in China it is let the buyer beware. It is different culture and will NEVER change.
My wife watches TV from South Korea. They have tremendous issues with food processed in China. There have been shows where they go to China and film the factories and interview people. Absolutely disgusting places.

I agree with Schumer too... sometimes even democrats get it right.
There is a new law going into effect this month that requires all muscle meat items to have the following information:
born, raised, harvested in (and then the country)
hatched, raised, harvested in (and then the country)
This applies to packers and retail establishments.
I do see where there may be some places that would import poultry from China ... like food service (schools, Armed Forces) ect...due to the shortage of poultry right now in the US.
It’s not that they can’t raise more...the shortage comes primarily from the production line. Most large vendors have simply run out of capacity and are hesitant to spend more money on adding more lines. <<<<Also they have a hard time finding workers who will work on those same lines.
Scummer is just sniffing for some Chinese campaign money. He could give a rats ass about the food supply for the proles.
I guess it’s not enough that Chinese chicken treats are killing our dogs...........
It is not only chicken …I was in the Dollar Tree,.,,.and they had vegetables from CHINA>>I try not to eat anything from ASIA…It is had to tell where the stuff comes from...
