Dems give Obama ultimatum: Fix health plan cancellations by Friday
Fox News ^ | November 13, 2013

House Democrats delivered a fix-it-or-else ultimatum Wednesday to President Obama, giving his administration until Friday to find an affordable solution for the millions of Americans losing their health plans under ObamaCare -- or risk some Democrats backing a Republican solution.

The ultimatum from President Obama's own party is another sign of the unrest within the Democratic caucus about the cancellation notices. The end-of-the-week deadline is significant, because House Republicans are planning to call a vote Friday on a bill that would extend current policies for another year.

It's unclear whether Democrats would go so far as to support that bill if the administration does not offer a Plan B. But one senior Democratic source told Fox News that, at a closed meeting Wednesday, Democrats made clear to the administration that they need a proposed fix before Friday's vote.

Landrieu, Feinstein, Hagan and all the other so-called "progressive" regressives who propose a "fix" in order to save political "seats" simply don't understand the real problem though:

The problem is that the "fix" just involves more coercive intrusion on the rights of individuals, on intrusion into and distortion of the insurance marketplace, on the future quality and proliferation of health care providers, and the damaging impact that their own regressive and arrogant assumptions is having on real individual American citizens and their families.

Just who do the Clintons, the Obamas, the Landrieu's, the Feinsteins and all "progressives"--no matter how good they believe their intentions are--believe they are? That great intellectual freedom fighter, Author of the Declaration of Independence, and former President may have, inadvertently, identified them in the following quotation:

"The mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs, nor a favored few booted and spurred, ready to ride them legitimately." —Thomas Jefferson

One other thought: lest the Democrats who laid this oppressive legislation on the nation by their votes now claim that they did it to "help" us and it is just "not working" as they intended, let them consider the words of C. S. Lewis about "moral busybodies" who use the coercive power of government to "do" their good:

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C. S. Lewis

Just add a drop down box to Healcare.gov for people to reactivate old insurance coverage.

That’ll work real well....

Don't think that will happen...Russia is in charge. Amazing they said it would take years and years to get rid of their chemical weapons...and I believe there is only one site left.

When will the USA get rid of its chemical weapons.

Just remember, the Democrats aren’t even trying to fix Obamacare, they are only concerned with fixing the elections in Nov 2014.

Whatever happens on Friday I already know that it’s all the fault of those greedy, racist, obstructionist 1% Republicans!

The Moron's major magic moment will never take effect!

Here's how I'm betting that things play out:

October: Government clowns can't even build a website to enroll the subjects. Democrats talk tough and hold fast. Mainstream media blames the Tea Party.

November: Millions are dumped by insurance companies ... millions more are forced to change doctors and hospitals. Democrats begin to wet their pants. Mainstream media becomes concerned and begins to wonder about the Community Organizer.

January: People without insurance start get sick and need care immediately. A huge burden is placed on the Treasury. Doctors and hospitals accepting ObamaCare are overwhelmed. Government idiots discover that approving and processing claims is far more daunting a task than enrolling customers. Approvals are delayed and denied. People start to die in droves. Democrats start jumping up and down while wetting their pants. Mainstream media begins to openly wonder about everybody but themselves.

February: Government check-writers are overwhelmed. Payments are delayed and denied. Banks are ordered to extend emergency loans to patients and healthcare providers. Healthcare providers drop out of ObamaCare in droves. Patients start to die in ever increasing numbers. Horror stories abound. Budget talks and debt limit talks add to the circus. Healthcare system melts down. Remaining confidence is lost in government and mainstream media. Liberals form a circle and begin the world's greatest p*ssing contest.

Timing may be a little off, the outcome is inevitable. I would love to be wrong ... but, unfortunately, we are dealing with government ineptitude and central planning.

Dead on! Instead, the R’s will offer some compromise. This thing is a train wreck. There is NO compromise that will fix it. None. It must be repealed, but not till AFTER the ‘14 or maybe ‘16 elections when we have the senate. If we repeal now, or give a compromise, then this thing hangs around the neck of the GOP, and the dems will campaign endlessly on how we wrecked Obamacare, insuring big wins in the next two elections.

Screw em, anyone wanting to toss in some fix now, is short-sighted.

No putting off the mandate until after the ‘14 elections either!

Remember, “IT’S THE LAW OF THE LAND”

The dems made their bed, let them lay in it until after the elections, let them scramble and bang their heads on the wall. It is not the GOP’s job to rescue this sinking Titanic at this point.

I know some will say I am heartless. Yes, some people will pay a lot more until we take the Senate back, but I say that is a small price to pay to save our nation. Also, every week this goes on, more and more libs will be mugged. A conservative is a lib who has been mugged. Let the moochers see that THEY are the ones getting screwed by their own party.

Extending the subsidies to all those people is a complete budget-buster. Obama can’t do it anyway without Congress. And if the Pubbies in the House go for THAT, it really WILL be time to blow-up the GOP.

Yes, yes, yes. There must be MUCH more suffering here. Teach these people what it means to elect liberals.

The problem is the House may pass something acceptable, but the Senate will re-write it. And if the House doesn't pass the Senate's amended bill, they will blame the House Republicans for all the cancellations.

This is a sucker bet. The House should not do anything and force Obama and his Senate Dims to come up with a fix. We tried during the shutdown and had the door slammed in our face while calling us "terrorists." Screw 'em. They broke it and they can fix it.

If the GOP was smart (begin laughing) they’ll demand repeal of at least the individual mandate and for the ones that already signed up for Medicaid, make Obama pay for them out of the IRS and HHS budgets.

While they’re at it on Friday, why don’t they also pass a law that McDonalds has to sell pizza. Or Home Depot has to come to your house and put the Behr Premium Ultra on your walls for the $38 bucks. No difference.

“...Wonder what sort of laughably desperate Hail Mary play Obama’s gonna try and run?...”

Whatever it is, he won’t have the same result that Roger Staubach had with Drew Pearson, that being a successful scoring attempt.

Mark Steyn pointed that about two or three years ago. From this point forward, the ONLY debates that will occur in federal government are how to “fix” health care and reduce costs. Nothing else will ever be discussed or debated.

Probably. Same thing went down with PPACA. House passed a “filler” bill, Senate removed all verbage, filled it back up with PPACA and sent it back to the House for “reconciliation”.

The BAIT n SWITCH here? House Dems want to pass a bill demanding “you like it, you keep it”, which will be another joke bill. Senate will remove all verbage and fill it with Landrieu’s bill. The bill goes back to the House. The House Republicans will then be in a lose-lose position.

March Obama pledges $2 TRILLION in 2014 to fix all the problems. LoFo voters, Dems, illegal immigrants, insurance companies, and lawyers all believe him and follow the Pied Piper of Communism. He implements via Exec Orders, QE VX11 at the Fed, and blames Bush for previous failures.
