The West African nation of Gambia has cut off relations with Taiwan, the latest country to spurn the island for its mainland rival China.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Michael Chen confirmed the move but declined to give a reason behind the move by Banjul, which seems almost certain to lead to the establishment of formal ties between Gambia and China.

China is recognized by more than 200 countries.

first Taiwan then Israel then... who knows what democratic ally will be thrown to wolves
Yes, and we’re still paying for it.
Taiwan is, in fact, an independent sovereign nation. Where do we get off telling them that they have no right to live free of China?
As goes Gambia, so goes...Gambia.
Never saw that picture. Sad.
If you support Free Trade with Communist China...you are a Communist.

Red China’s all over Africa because of its natural resources. The Congo is a de-facto colony of Red China, and the Red Chinese treat the natives as slaves.
Red China has had long-standing alliances with their fellow communists in Zimbabwe (Mugabe obviously) and in South Africa (the ANC). Gambia is just one more domino piece to fall.
The European Union is Red China’s chief competitor in Africa. The USA isn’t even a player in this game.
