New budget cut options include military pay, veterans

Military members, retirees and veterans have a few more reasons to be wary of politicians who say their top priority is to cut federal spending.

The Congressional Budget Office on Wednesday released a report of more than 100 options for reducing budget deficits. It’s a timely product as House and Senate conferees strive to negotiate by mid-December a new debt-cutting deal to replace automatic budget cuts of sequestration.

More than a few of the CBO options are fresh ideas to roll back compensation for categories of veterans or to raise TRICARE fees for military retirees, on suggestions that the government is being too generous.

To be fair, CBO is not singling out veterans here. There are options in the report to make nervous many segments of society dependent on federal payments, from social security recipients to drug manufacturers.

But for select veterans’ programs, CBO makes some hard-edged points that lawmakers bent on cutting spending might find compelling, if not persuasive, to help address the nation’s debt crisis.

Here are some of those ideas:

Even many employed and pensioned contractor and local government employees hate former enlisted Army veterans, and that’s just up the hill from the Springs. Even some Vietnam-era, non-combat specialty veterans are like that (some—maybe more up on the Range...er, Strange than in most places...don’t know). They wage little backbiting campaigns against reputations, property rights, employment, etc. I don’t know why. But it’s been going on long enough, that I don’t much care any more.

Maybe it has to do with political and social differences. I’m conservative for real (as in old fashioned, family rights, property rights and so on). Our nation is morally bankrupt. That explains it in a general sense.

Too many of the people of our nation are engaging in a defecate-on-your-neighbor society, and they’re not interested in having men to produce useful things any more (manufacturing). They’re all lefties. So the vicious circle of bond collapse, interest rate hikes, repudiation of debt and spending cuts will begin before long.

Society’s answer to the situation: “SHTF,” “TEOTWAWKI,” plans to kill the Joneses instead of keeping up with them and all, “as seen on TV.” I’ve only watched a couple of recorded shows about that sort of thing. Disgusting, the Balkan-ists. Big shots in business and government are participating in the madness by fomenting hysteria and panic. More approved, degreed, licensed people are nuts each year.

Trendy folks can have it. I’m not in and don’t need any stinking excitement. Peace and quiet are better. I’ll just watch the weird show and get by.

Oh, and I don’t do drugs and not a “Wiccan” (as an artillery vet and an engineer vet from an ‘80s Germany tour described themselves). I’m out and don’t talk to anyone much except for a Korean War vet (rancher robbed by false allegations) and another engineer (common concrete truck driver). They don’t get high, worship animals or make false allegations against neighbors.

Veterans?

The backbone of Obama’s America is LGTG and means tested Federal benefit recipients!
