De Blasio vs. the market
NY Post ^ | November 16, 2013 | Charles Gasparino

Business leaders in the city are scratching their heads over recent remarks by Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio.

Describing how he plans to govern once he takes office next year, the mayor-elect declared flatly that he doesn’t believe in the free-market system.

At least Comrade Bill was being honest.

“Everything you heard about me is true. . . I am not a free-marketeer. . . I believe in the heavy hand of government,” de Blasio stated matter-of-factly during an hour-long presentation to some of the city’s biggest real-estate developers.

The meeting occurred several weeks before the election with de Blasio way ahead in the polls and New York’s business elite hoping and praying he wasn’t as much of a leftist as he said he was on the campaign trail.

I give Commisar Whilhem points for honesty. None of the many idiot New Yorkers who voted for him should be surprised by this. Just as the retards and parasites who voted for Obama (twice) should be surprised by what a spectacular disaster he is.

I believe DeBlasio (or Wilhelm, whatever his last name may be)is a leftist to the nth degree. Obviously, he does not care that half the city’s revenue comes from the 25,000 top earners on Wall Street or that these job earners, and their jobs, can readily move to NJ, PA, SC or other states - labor and capital are mobile, Mr. Mayor - an old rule of thumb states that “business stays where it is wanted and goes where it is appreciated”.

It will be fun to watch the very pure experiment: What happens when an unabashed Marxist takes control of an already very socialist American city? I guess we should look to Europe for precedent.

NYC needs to suffer the consequences of its insanity. Companies and high income individuals need to get out of the city now and not wait for the beheadings to begin.

A leftist? He claims to be a communist.

If you live in New York City, sell all your real estate and move.

New Yorkers for years have lectured the rest of `flyover America’ for our supposed social backwardness, provinciality, reactionary political views, and inability to appreciate the `finer things of life’.

They’ve elected their dream lefty candidate, now let them stew in their own juices. Should be fun to watch.

(Cue up Sinatra crooning “New York, New York”. Followed by “The Internationale”.)

He’s going to use the Detroit model to spread the wealth and make everyone “filthy rich”.

How can any reasonable investor continue to buy bonds from a city whose mayor has declared himself to be an anti-capitalist radical bent on destroying his city’s companies and banks?

I hope this guy winds up being 10x as crazy as he sounds. I don’t care about NY City and would be excellent entertainment and lessons for the rest of the country

But it's a "very socialist American city" that depends on Wall Street, the entertainment industry, robust tourism and people wanting to live in penthouses that cost millions of dollars. I'd think it could get weird.

LOL, I like that. King George couldn’t screw this up worse.

Actually the one who really merits asking “miss Me yet” is the Jesus that was the reason for the 1776 revolution. “No king but Jesus!” Ahem, now people are looking to a jillion little kings to take care of their needs, and they are doing a lousier and lousier job of it.

I have that quote! :-)

It is the Happiness of his Church that, when the Powers of Earth and Hell combine against it...that the Throne of Grace is of the easiest access--and its Appeal thither is graciously invited by the Father of Mercies, who has assured it, that when his Children ask Bread he will not give them a Stone....... We Recognize No Sovereign but God and No King but Jesus

Wall Street, big business and big gov created this economic mess. Together (gov regulators looked the other way, corporate America shipped off good jobs, Wall Street leveraged and created scams that no one ever dreamed off) crashed the US economy in 2008. Now they will blame each other once the US public is angry. Wall Street is about to learn what it is like to ally with politicians to commit fraud and act recklessly in the market. When the system implodes the politician will use the mob to go after Wall Street and big business. There is never honor amongst the powerful.
If freepers are smart let big gov and big business kill each other. Just make sure Main Street is ready to pick up the pieces to create a new economic order. Big gov and big business is a threat to American freedom and security.

And any increases in local taxes will be partially offset by federal deduction essentially forcing the rest of the country to subsidize leftist programs at the state/local level.

I know calling for tax increases is taboo here, but these people deserve to experience the full measure of their idiocy. Remove the deduction for state/local taxes.

Look at the Brits now. But that’s probably what happens when you a church whose head is the civil leader of your country, thanks to Henry VIII. They’re certainly not a model for us.
