PBS Dem Pundit Mark Shields: If Obamacare Fails, 'This Is The End...of Liberal Government'
NewsBusters ^ | November 16, 2013 | Tim Graham

Posted on 11/16/2013 8:47:44 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Barack Obama being clear that his team messed up Obamacare made it hard for liberal PBS NewsHour pundit Mark Shields to try Democrat Happy Talk.

Instead, Shields joined the liberal gloomfest: “If this goes down, if the Obama -- if health care, the Affordable Care Act is deemed a failure, this is the end -- I really mean it -- of liberal government.” He even acknowledged Obama lied about Keeping Your Plan:

MARK SHIELDS: That is -- wasn't a true statement. And you're driven to one of two conclusions. Either the president was almost -- almost negligently uncurious in not asking about what the answer was, or he made the choice to trade his considerable reputation and record of integrity for short-term political gain. That's why they had to come and that's why there was such consternation in the ranks.

JUDY WOODRUFF: How do you explain it, David, what happened, with the president acknowledging yesterday that he wasn't on top of it?

DAVID BROOKS: Yes, I think it is politics. They knew that they -- getting this thing passed -- we were there -- it was hard. And so they were pulling out every political stop in the book. And a lot of those political stops have made it harder now. The first early one was, they were really late in issuing the regulations because they didn't want them to come out during the campaign so Romney could attack them.

As a result, the whole implementation got pushed back, and that's part of the reason the Web site is such a mess. And then they made this political calculation. Then they made the -- that they weren't going to tell you there will be losers here. And they made the political calculation....

The DemonRATs and their Obamacare have reached the end of the road. Their arrogant, people-be-damned rule, refuses to see the disaster ahead. It proves they are unfit to lead this nation.

Has Mark Shields looked at the O’Keefe video’s to see what dem ‘social justice’ has done to everyday black democrats? Turned ‘em into lowlife scammers. Yeah Mark, people who scam the system with glee - that’s the liberal legacy.. Oh - and the ‘knockout’ game players. Things people do and become when they’re ‘saved’ from having any self respect.

They are rooting for failure. I mean, it's so transparent, and so obvious, whether it's Darrell Issa, whether it's Reince Priebus, the chairman. They're just cheering for failure. There's not a sense of what we can do to make this work

I am SO totally rooting for failure. I wouldn't lift a finger to "make this work". YMMV.

Sometimes I wonder if Roosevelt saved the failure of his New Deal with WWII.

If liberals want to save the District of Communism aka shiny city on the hill, WWIII is what they will have to consider... but I do not think they are capable of it as FDR was. These newbies are such losers.

Oh no doubt. The planned march of “progress” is more nationalization ofndoctors and nurses if that does not work.

To think of it, the patients are already nationalized...

I for one don’t want to see people starving in the streets. I don’t want homeless children wandering around like it’s some 3rd world country

That is the excuse for every liberal disaster visited on this country since March 4, 1933.

Please enlighten us - when, prior to 1933, were people "starving in the streets" and when, prior to 1933, were "homeless children wandering around"?

Now, on the other hand, after 80 years of progressive government, there are lots of hungry people and lots more who are one glitch away from starvation, and there are feral children haunting the streets of every big city in the country.

If you don't want the horribles you cite, you will do everything you can to rip up the Republican-Democrat coalition government up by the roots, end 95% of the destructive (I wish it was just useless) Federal bureaucracy, make Arlington, Loudoun, Howard and Fairfax counties the POOREST in the country, not the richest, and then salt the earth where the EPA used to live.

If you want to gain respect for FDR and his military team, read the list of Executive Orders issued between December 8, 1941 and January 7, 1942.

Those guys knew what they were doing.

His “record of integrity”? That wouldn’t have traded for much even before this debacle that is 0bama(doesn’t)care.

The stupidity of the left is mind boggling.

“I for one don’t want to see people starving in the streets. I don’t want homeless children wandering around like it’s some 3rd world country.”

Back when America became so humanistic and “progressive”, the focus was on God. Churches and families dealt (well) with these issues. I mentioned that to my lib friend and her response was, “Well, a lot of people don’t go to church, so they don’t get help that way.” I told her that “Decisions have consequences.”

so we have no homeless? no hungry? bending over a bit to prove conservative creds are we?

The question was, are those problems BETTER or WORSE since the Republican-Democrat progressive coalition took over in 1933?

I say they are worse. Do you disagree?

I must've been in a coma these past 5-6 years. What "record of integrity" is he referring to?

I’ve been rooting for his failure since January, 2009.

Obama has intended every single one of his policies to fail -- he is a Cloward-Piven disciple. And, in terms of achieving his ends, he's probably the most successful president ever.

"that's what Democrats believe. Time and again, social programs have made the difference in this country. The public confidence in that will be so depleted, so diminished, that I really think the change -- the equation of American politics changes.

WOODRUFF: Is your view that dire?"

Isn't it interesting that Woodruff views the collapse of the Democrat party as "dire". I would view it as "delightful".

March 21st 2010 to October 1 2013 is 3 years, 6 months, 10 days.

December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is 3 years, 5 months, 1 day.

What this means is that in the time we were attacked at Pearl Harbor to the day Germany surrendered is not enough time for this federal government to build a working webpage.

Mobilization of millions, building tens of thousands of tanks, planes, jeeps, subs, cruisers, destroyers, torpedoes, millions upon millions of guns, bombs, ammo, etc. Turning the tide in North Africa, Invading Italy, D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, Race to Berlin - all while we were also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific!!

And they can’t build a webpage.

If? is there still the question of if?

The question at hand is how soon.
