Heh. Seattle has the spookiest cops in the nation. Just heard something else this morning on the radio about them getting nailed for brutality. For awhile the feds were going to take over the Seattle police.

When I go to the link, there is NO picture under the title. Just the article. Maybe it is something in our firewall settings, or something, but I see no picture, no video, no link to video.

a recent local account.

If you are a white woman you can’t drive away from police at 100mph in the wrong lane (thereby endangering your children) and claim racism. If you are black you will have lawyers lining up for you

It was that 14 year old boy that really scared them.

Most 14 year old boys upon seeing their mother in an altercation would jump into the fray.

I can't believe that a fully armed police officer with gun, taser, night stick, hand cuffs, and especially the extensive training would feel unduly threatened by a 14 year old unarmed boy. I guess there wasn't a dog to shoot.

PS the article doesn't say whether the boy got back in the van when she sped off. If the officers kept possession of the boy, they would at least have someone to do the colonoscopyies on.

It is narrow winding mountain road.

You make it sound like a goat track. The speed limit was 55. That’s a pretty good road.

One thing I learned about Seattle area police: If you are pulled over by a motorcycle cop, you’re getting a ticket. I would get pulled over three or four times a year but averaged about one ticket every two years. Whenever it was a motorcycle, I learned it was going to cost me at least something.

One summer day I was leaving the park and ride in my convertible and got stopped by a radar motorcycle cop doing 48 in a 25. I had no proof of insurance, I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and my tabs had expired the week before. The cop gave me a ticket for 35 in a 25 and told me to wear my seatbelt and get my tabs renewed...

He was a nice guy, but had to write a ticket.

I got warnings only from cops in cars almost every time. Almost...

After being issued the citation, the officer wrote that Ferrell proceeded to drive north in her Kia Sedona minivan after declining to pay the fine or return to Taos to contest it before a judge.

Is this the way it works in NM? You have to immediately pay the fine or plead your case to a judge? I'm assuming this would only apply to an out-of-state driver.

*********** Seems in New Mexico you must pay the fine on the spot or go see a judge about it immediately to contest it. She decided to do neither. She got in her van and took off, thus fleeing justice. She just got there and already figures she is above the simple laws of New Mexico. That’s for the white people and the Indians and Mexicans************

>>>>>>>>>>>

An officer stopped her on State Road 518 near Talpa for driving in excess of the speed limit, according to a statement of probable cause filed in Taos Magistrate Court.

After being issued the citation, the officer wrote that Ferrell proceeded to drive north in her Kia Sedona minivan after declining to pay the fine or return to Taos to contest it before a judge.

The officer followed the 39-year-old Memphis resident for about one half-mile at which point she pulled to the side of the road. A struggle ensued, the officer wrote, as he attempted to remove Ferrell from the vehicle and was confronted by her 14-year-old son.

Two other officers arrived, according to court documents, and the family locked themselves inside the vehicle. The arresting officer wrote that he smashed the passenger side window with his baton before Ferrell drove away again. A colleague fired three rounds at the rear tires “in an attempt to keep the vehicle from leaving,” he wrote.

The officers pursued Ferrell down State Highway 518 before turning north on State Highway 68 and proceeding at speeds of up to 100 mph, according to court documents.

Ferrell brought the minivan to a halt in front of the main entrance to Hotel Don Fernando, the arresting officer wrote. Ferrell and her 14-year-old son were then arrested at gunpoint without incident.

The four other children in the vehicle were taken into custody by the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department.

The youths ranging in age from six to 18 were placed in the care of a family known to Ferrell, according to state police.

“But only one side fired bullets.”

The ‘other side’ initiated a physical attack.

That’s the crux in my opinion. She was surprised she couldn’t deal with the ticket later. I read exactly what you read.

This is small town New Mexico where they need the revenue, where they can get hold of the judge you must see to contest it right away as in now, or you pay the fine on the spot to the policeman. She refused both options. Instead she drove away

Most 14 year old boys I knew didn’t have mothers who disobeyed police and drive away from a legal stop.

Why should the cop assume the boy is unarmed? He got out of the car and went at the officer. The boy is as big as the cop.

The kid got back in the car, sans colonoscopy.

That was my thought too, and he was not large for his age. Be very afraid. Good Lord, most mothers have taken something like that from their own 14 yr old sons. I have and both of mine are Eagle Scouts. And then they had to punish him with an arrest. Sad.

“take away her Obamaphone. Al and Jessy will be down to NM in a flash.”

This is the second shooting by a NM State Police officer in the past two weeks. In Santa Fe, a woman drove away from the officer who tried to stop and led him on a high speed chase. He did the PIT maneuver and stopped her car. When she tried to back up to get away, he fired on her and killed her.

Two? The cops (and doctors) did that TWICE?

I only heard about one incident.
