Their results, recently released as a working paper by the National Bureau of Economic Research, suggest that one of the contributing forces behind government corruption could be who gets into government work in the first place.

For instance, “if people have the view that jobs in government are corrupt, people who are honest might not want to get into that system,” said Rema Hanna, an associate professor at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. To combat that problem, governments may need to find new ways to screen people seeking jobs, she said. …

Why did they go all the way to India to do the study? They could have gotten the same results with Ivy League students.

They have to do their own cheating with the study, of course.

The very reason that gov’t power must be severely limited is that the people who seek positions of power WANT power - over others.

Heck, they could do a survey of one - Dork-O-Rack Obamacretin - and come to the same conclusion.

LOL, completely believable.

I know a woman who went from private industry to HHS as a GS back in 1990s and its life on easy street since,
She gets idiot work but little is expected of her and she has ~ 100% job security . Good pay, great benefits.

She Got paid to be off both shutdowns, 1995/6 + this years.
Cant beat that.

Makes perfect sense. The government employee crowd is replete with those who cheat/lie in many, many ways: from slacking off at work, to taking sick days when not sick, to lieing to constituents, to cranking up their overtime near retirement to up their retirement benefit, to conveniently becoming disabled, to saying they work hard, to complaining that they don’t get paid enough, to...

"researchers from Harvard University"

When it comes to creating government workers Harvard ought to know.

Acually, when it comes to cheating, Harvard knows a lot about that too, since many recent surveys claim that cheating by current and prospective Harvard students is endemic.
