Next we’ll learn that Olympia Dukakis only won the Oscar because of political connections.

And The Duke’s nomination acceptance speech punchline was . . “This election’s not (about this, not about that) but about COMPETENCE”
Two months or so later, the stupid grin and wave to the cameras from the Abrams

He made it into a Futurama episode. I wish I could get a better pic of "The Fighting Dukaki".

To the folks who organized that photo op, two things
1) Thank you. Thank you very, very much.
2. Why couldn't you have done the same for Barry? His uncritical media wouldn't laugh at him anyway so it's probably a moot point.

Johnny Carson had a great line about Duke in the Tank. It went something along the lines of “with those eyebrows, you look just like the enemy, comrade!”

Where can we locate Matt Bennett?
It’s really well past time we awarded him with some kind of medal for sparing the nation from a Dukakis Administration.

If only this writer had written this column in ‘88, we might have had a Dukakis presidency. /s

Hate to think something so trivial is the most memorable event of the campaign. That’s the press for ya’.
Wonder what would’ve happened if Dukakis won and the whole Bush clan had retreated to Maine and Texas...

Even funnier-—SNL skit (rerun many times since then).
Duke was short-—so when he stood at the dais to debate
he was lifted up to the mike by an elevator....wearing that same smirky grin.

His big problem is the chin strap. Its all crooked and looks stupid. I was in the Army, and the chin strap on the steel pot and Kevlar helmets were always, always used.
But it was different on the tank. That helmet is called a CVC, and the earpieces hug your head...its a lot like wearing a set of headphones with a fiberglass helmet attached. We never, and I mean never, wore the chin strap. Not even in training at FT Knox, where most things were ‘by the book’. It just wasn’t necessary.
