My mother always called it a “commie rag” but always allowed us to have it because it was so brilliant. Certainly had no effect on our politics, lol! I think the death of Bill Gaines really hurt the mag.
When I was in about the seventh or eight grade, our teacher was an old Irish nun who said one day, “And you shouldn’t be reading that magazine called ‘The Mad.’” A student pointed out that the name was “Mad,” not “The Mad,” to which she replied in her brogue, “That’s right: it’s mad - mad from hell!”
Happily, my nuns were completely ignorant of Mad. Thank God my highly conservative parents broke down over that great rag. I still remember having an Alfred E Newman bobble-head doll stuck to the rear window of our car.

Yes, that is pretty wise to love this country so much and thankful you can gather up all the toys you can before leaving this wonderful country. To share your toys with your neighbors would be considered a crime against the rest of the world leaders beliefs. I’m sure Jay will treasure that hidden Rembrandt for the rest of his life. I believe also it does leave others wondering how Obama will leave his own legacy? Surely not as a van Gogh!

I could never understand why some many made fun of George’s looks. I always thought he was a handsome man- and at 67 he looks great!
As for Leno being replaced by Fallon, that’s a travesty.
I like him far better than Carson.
Carson was a mean spirited a hole. Leno is a decent man- and very talented. I hope he gets picked up by another network and beats the cr*p out of Fallon!
