I’ve not frequently seen them wear little moon symbols like Christians occasionally wear crosses.

I am just saying that many think Sikhs or Hindu are Muslim and they are not.

Muslim women will be wearing a distinctive scarf covering all the hair and their shoulders. Muslims, though, can break all the rules in the name of “Jihad”.
Sikh men will have a white turban and long beards but almost always rolled tight under the chin. In very informal situations (you are not likely to see them like that) may have a simple cloth covering of their topknot, not a turban.
There’s no obvious way I know of to distinguish non Sikh Hindu men from Arabs.
