'Duck Dynasty' Endorsed Candidate Wins Special Election, Upsets GOP Establishment Opponent

A political candidate endorsed by a member of the "Duck Dynasty" family has upset his establishment opponent in a special election held in Louisiana.

Vance McAllister, a businessman who received an endorsement from Willie Robertson not long before the vote, was victorious against La. State Senator Neil Riser this past weekend.

In the special runoff election held for the vacated Fifth Congressional District seat of Louisiana, McAllister defeated Riser with 59.7 percent of the vote versus Riser's 40.3 percent, reported Politico.

Riser had strong support from Republican establishment figures at the state and federal level and was expected to win the race, Politico's Alex Isenstadt noted.

"McAllister, a political newcomer, led Riser, a state senator who had won the support of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and much of the state's GOP congressional delegation," wrote Isenstadt.

"I would like to thank everyone for your support and prayers! I am grateful to each and every one of you who made our victory possible. Together we will make a change in Washington," reads an entry on the McAllister campaign's Facebook page from Sunday.

McAllister's victory was very much an unforeseen event, as numbers from the October open primary gave Riser 32 percent of the vote versus McAllister's 18 percent.

However many are crediting the surprise finish to the race to a brief television plug that Willie Robertson made for the McAllister campaign after the primary.

"Hey this is Willie Robertson reminding you to get out Saturday, November 16 and vote for my good buddy Vance McAllister," said Robertson. "Let's send somebody from the Fifth District who speaks for us to help turn Washington around."

Willie was not the only member of the "Duck Dynasty" clan to support McAllister, as Jep Robertson also professed support for McAllister in a brief ad found on the home page of the campaign website.

"If you love America and you live in Louisiana, you need to vote for Vance this Saturday because I sure as heck know I am," said Jep.

McAllister himself has recognized the likely impact the Duck Dynasty connection did for him, telling the crew at Fox & Friends on Monday that "I'm sure it didn't hurt at all."

Hah! While Chris Christie is stumping states for gope’s, maybe we can get this duck dynasty star to stalk him and win for the Conservative candidates.

For what it’s worth dept.

http://www.theadvertiser.com/article/20131117/NEWS01/311170024/Mr-McAllister-goes-Washington

While Riser earned the establishment’s backing, McAllister secured the wildly
popular “Duck Dynasty” West Monroe Robertson family’s nod.

He was also helped by the endorsement of prominent Democrats like Monroe
Mayor Jamie Mayo, who finished a strong third in the primary and openly
campaigned for McAllister, and still popular former U.S. Rep. Cleo Fields.

She’s the senior US Senator from Louisiana, though she was born in Virginia.

MSNBC is spinning it that he was for Obamacare. Looking at his statements he seemed to say ....paraphrasing...he was for expanding medicare but wanted Obamacare repealed.

There is no bigger fan of DD than me. I...and few of us here ....really know their politics. We are assuming.

When I see them at a Tea Party or Sarah on their show, I will be convinced. I mentioned Sarah because she and Todd would be obvious choices because of their background.

Cruz or Lee or some others would be good too but Sarah is more visible in her hunting background.

The really sad thing is that only 18.9% of the eligible voters bothered to
exercise their right. This is rural a district covering 25 parishes.

Just curious...was Riser being supported by US Chamber of Commerce, Business Roundtable, Karl Rove Crossroads? If so, Riser needed to be defeated...as he is supported by Liberal RINO organizations

Interesting. Just yesterday I was on a FR thread with some hack bad-mouthing the DD family for endorsing McAllister as he is a amnesty pushing RINO.

Riser and McAllister are both conservatives and largely agreed on many issues. Both oppose abortion, favor strong gun rights and criticize the levels of federal spending and debt.

Their sharpest distinction rested with President Barack Obama’s signature health care law.

Both opposed the health overhaul, but Riser wanted only repeal, saying the law will harm businesses and families and can't be fixed.

McAllister said repeal had no chance with Democrats leading the Senate and White House, so he said Congress should work to improve the law. He also wants Louisiana to expand its Medicaid program to give insurance to the working poor, an expansion that Riser opposes.

The positions put McAllister at odds with some tea party supporters but generated support from Democrats who had no candidate of their own in the runoff.

The Duck Dynasty Doofus endorsed and swung the election of a pro-amnesty RINO who wants to surrender on ObamaCare...

McAllister on amnesty: "The current system is broken and unfair. We have to secure the borders, but citizenship has to be attainable for those people already here”

McAllister surrendering on ObamaCare: "I would love to take an eraser and repeal it, but we can't. Obamacare is a nightmare, but it’s a reality, and it’s here. So if you have to live with it, we have to make it livable. " McAllister said, according to The News-Star.

McAllister also SUPPORTS the expansion of Medicare under ObamaCare in Louisiana! This is NO conservative worth Ted Cruz' admiration.

And here is a release from the largest proamnesty group there is praising McAllister's election: "NEW LOUISIANA CONGRESSMAN VANCE MCALLISTER BECOMES 29TH HOUSE REPUBLICAN TO SUPPORT PATHWAY TO CITIZENSHIP FOR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS"

Maybe that's why the NRA, FreedomWorks, RedState and the Tea Party supported his opponent. But the Duck Doofus is FAMOUS, so let's listen to him instead! Pathetic. You can admire all the God reference you want - and it's great to have more of it among celebs. But this is SERIOUS now, with a pathetically ignorant celeb swinging elections against our interests as conservatives.
