America has gone from government of laws to semi-political banana republic
Fox News ^ | November 21, 2013 | Patrick Caddell

The rule of law has been replaced in Washington by "yes we can." The events we witnessed Thursday in the Senate, that is Majority Leader Harry Reid's success at invoking the so-called 'nuclear option,' stripping the minority party of its primary power to block nominations, have become a stunning capstone to what has been already a steady erosion of a government of laws down to a sort of semi-political banana republic.

We are now living in a republic in which politicians do what they want without regard to tradition or the best interests of our country.

The rule of more than 200 years since the Senate was formed, as described by James Madison, to be "...the saucer of the hot cup of the House" has been overthrown.

[snip] The most recent and jarring example is the Affordable Care Act where the president has, despite the actual language of the law, assumed powers to exempt people, to change the meaning of the law. Of actual legislative statue.

In a way that is stunning. Indeed, the most egregious was the Democratic and Republican leaders coming together to agree to ignore the language in the Affordable Care Act legislation and grant themselves and their staffs a special subsidy. Sadly, this is something very few people have bothered to speak out against.

No, it is not. Essentially, every decent individual with good character and high morals is going to decide how they die:1. On their feet as free men/women fighting. or 2. Starved and worked to death in one of Obama’s or one of his stooge’s camps. Unless one dies a natural death before then, there will be no third option.

A Declaration of Rights is, by reciprocity, a Declaration of Duties also. Whatever is my right as a man is also the right of another; and it becomes my duty to guarantee as well as to possess.

It is the God-given duty of the government and every man to protect and preserve God-given natural rights. But, if there is no God, which is what secular humanist, marxist, and postmodernist libtards believe, then there is nothing to stop them from the use of force based on the ideas that might makes right and the end justifies the means.Say hello to tyranny.

I don't consider either of those options "ending well".

Those are the ones that opposed Romney.

Those are the ones that voted for Romney in the primary.

Fixed it for you. The word was out for months that Romney would lose because a huge chunk of the conservative base saw right through him. But Hugh Hewitt and his ilk convinced republican R or nothing voters that he was "electable".

Yes, governmentally, America has devolved into a corrupt banana-republic. And, culturally, America has devolved into a degenerate sewer. Can a country like this even have a future? I have considerable doubt.

The Rule of Law is dead and the legislative branch irrelevant, and done by design at the hands of dingy harry reid. He has blocked every piece of legislation in the Senate since the passage of 0bamacare. It has been deliberate, because the intent is to create a dysfunctional congress that cannot carry out its constitutional duties. Thus, it opens the door for the executive to assume de facto dictatorial powers without being challenged.

Its worse than that; our political betters enrich themselves at our expense and are blatantly corrupt and we are powerless to hold them to account.

It's not that we are powerless to do what it takes. Nobody has the will.

Our Founding Fathers would have burned their houses, destroyed their farms, their land, and when caught they would have been shot or hung.

So, no, we don't have the will.

Exactly. The founders took on the largest army/navy in the world with everything they had.

And the greivances listed in the Declaration of Independence are nothing compared to the crap the government does to us daily.

I am trying hard to find where the founds required 60 votes. I really am.

It is right there along side Separation of Church and State.

Are you deliberately trying to get on someones list?

Did we think we could abandon God with impunity?

Ditto. This party has raced to the Left so hard you can’t recognize it. Scoop Jackson would be hounded out of office.

It is not going to end well, for us or them. For us, my previous post applies. Without us to support them, they will starve to death.

They have the mistaken idea that they will enslave us, and force us to support them.

Hewitt and his type are Statist loving GOPe slime.

I am 100% certain that Hewitt will back Christie over Cruz.

obama and his ilk want to make sure the senate is controlled by democrats his last two years. Then he can let lose with the total destruction of America but can’t be impeached.
