As Tensions Fall in Iran, So Do Costs of Gasoline
New York Times ^ | Nov 6 2013 | Clifford Krauss

HOUSTON — Gasoline prices are tumbling just in time for the holiday shopping season to begin.

Consumers can thank the tentative reduction in tensions in the Middle East and swelling supplies of domestic oil for their good fortune, and energy experts say prices could fall further if negotiations between the West and Iran progress.

The cost of a gallon of regular gasoline has dropped by 6 cents a gallon over the last week alone, in line with a steady swoon through the fall that has brought prices to their lowest levels in three years.

Seasonal price declines are expected this time of year, but the slide this year is particularly steep. It brings modest relief to consumers at a time when families try to scrape together disposable income for gifts, road trips and entertaining family and friends.

I shoulda figured this one out myself.. but I didnt.

I couldnt figure out, "Why this, why now?" over this nuclear deal with Iran.

BO needs SOMETHING positive to stop the nosedive in his approval numbers, and a drop in gas prices may just do the trick.

I’m trying to recall - how often during the last 5 years did the Times make a big deal out of gas prices *rising*?

Hmm, I left Texas where I bought last near Houston at 2.86 but can be up to 2.99 at the name brand and more expensive locations, and am now in Utah where I saw 2.84 today at the lowest place nearby.

gas still costs more than double what it did when O took over in our WhiteHouse

six cents (or even sixty cents) is just a market fluctuation not a return to reasonable price levels. six cents is a pittance. nobody even feels the difference for six lousy cents. why write an article about that, even if it were true?

this article is worthless BS.
it must have a political agenda, propaganda for the O adminsitration or ? but on the facts, its BS.

Aren’t they getting ready to spring a $1/gallon federal tax on gas? If so, it would make political sense to first drop the price, so when it goes back up, it isn’t that far above recent memory.

Do the people that write this tripe ever actually leave their office towers?

Our local gas prices have gone from $3.03 to 3.33 in about 10 days.

The New York Times is once again spinning and propagandizing to provide cover for their liberal-progressive masters.

Still $3.19/gal unl reg here in York, PA, after 2½ weeks. Diesel's dropped nicely, too. GasBuddy's not current on its prices, yet.
