Musical artists Macklemore & Ryan Lewis took a moment to honor Trayvon Martin at the American Music Awards Sunday night.
While accepting an award for favorite rap/hip-hop album, Macklemore quoted Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., before speaking out about slain Florida teen, Trayvon Martin.
Due to the fact that we are in Florida tonight accepting this award, I want to acknowledge Trayvon Martin and the hundreds and hundreds of kids each year that are dying due to racial profiling and the violence that follows it, Macklemore, whose given name is Ben Haggarty, said. This is really happening. These are our friends, our neighbors, our peers, and our fans, and its time that we look out for the youth and fight against racism and the laws that protect it.
The musical duo have been known for promoting social justice on divisive issues in the past. The song Same Love, a top hit off their award winning album, The Heist, openly addresses homophobia and supports marriage equality.....

Macklemore has some rap where he says something like “I was in 3d grade when I found out I was gay” or something like that
Nothing demonstrated how stupid white rappers look when they had Eminem on a ABC college FB game earlier this yr...Eminem looked so tiny and scrawny next to elderly Brent Musberger. I always thought Eminem got better treatment from black rappers than Vanilla Ice because Ice didn’t put out...Eminem looks like the White Boy Toy for Black inmates.
And...I like RB and Soul music...but the old skool kind. As bad as Macklemore is....that little Ariana Grande can sing. Glad to see her beat out Mackle.. My faith in humanity got a little restored
Patronizing “polar bears.” Loved the patronizing reference to MLK’s, “Letter from the Birmingham Jail.” Nice touch, boys. The tiger will eat you last.
“They look like a couple of fags.”
Great minds think alike.
My gaydar is a smoking mass of goo.
Maybe the kids invovled in profiling should stop being brainless thugs...they might be safer if they didn’t initiate violence in the first place.
It’s human nature to defend one’s self.
“So, waddya say will all go out and play the knock knock game?”
~What I imagine these morons said after the show
I’m trying to think about what they could have been thinking during the play. It wasn’t an accidental block, but a full-on engagement. They locked up for seconds!
I went to some ESPN Gator articles last night. I expect deaths at the FSU v UF game.
Setting aside St. Skittles.....show me one.
One MINORITY one, that is. I can do a search on FR for "Knockout Game" and likely come up with dozens. But they're not the flavor this clown is looking for.
fags indeed
“... Trayvon Martin and the hundreds and hundreds of kids each year that are dying due to racial profiling ...”
Hundreds each year, all due to racial profiling?
That’s the best blocking I’ve seen from them all year.
I expect the Swamp to be about 80/20 Noles fans there...Heck, if you can’t beat them, might as well make some money off of them.
LOL, too true.
My friends are selling their tickets. They’re going to grill and drink at their pads.
I thought trouble could happen away from the stadium around campus somewhere. I’m certainly not condoning it, but it’s a volatile mixture. We’re as low as possible, they’re as high. If we get smoked like I expect, beer muscles might reign.
The Rap Game is a little different in that area...It may have changed slightly, but it's still not widely accepted in those circles.
Three dog night. Easy to be hard. Asshat “artists” have been squawking this crap forever.
How can people be so heartless
You know I’m hung up on you
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no
Especially people who care about strangers
Who care about evil and social injustice
Do you only care about the bleeding crowd
How about a needy friend
We all need a friend
I know they are considered rappers, but since they went mainstream, I would say they would be ok. Our society is so sick. I just wish that conservatives wouldn’t accept it as much. What I mean by that is that every actor or politician that they think it gay they will have thread upon thread about it. It really makes the person more comfortable with “coming out” because everyone is saying it and even joking about it like it is not a big deal. It drives me crazy especially when they joke about politicians especially Lindsay (R-SC) because if he were ever to come out, people will just say, “Oh like that is a surprise” when in the old days it would have been considered a scandal and he would have had to resign. Today he would continue to make policy. It just makes me sick.
These are hopeless moronic Libtards. Note that MSLSD is the author.
You cannot fight self-loathers.
How ‘bout the millions of Blacks who’ve died at the hands of leftist big gubmint policies ?
More trash from Seattle.
