Few issues better illustrate the fault line in todays Republican Party than how individual members of Congress come down on opening-up Americas borders and granting amnesty to illegal aliens.
On one side are all of the Bigs; Big Labor looking for more low-wage members, Big Business looking for more low-wage workers and Big Government looking for more impoverished clients.
On the other side are We The People the little guys Americans who believe in the plain language of the Constitution, the rule of law and American exceptionalism.
The betrayal of the interests of grassroots conservative voters by the leaders of Washingtons establishment Republican Party was starkly illustrated in the recent comments of House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, the third ranking leader in the House Republican Conference.
McCarthy (CA-23) said Sunday that immigration reform is going to happen. McCarthy insisted that the House would take immigration reform on a step-by-step basis, and noted that President Obama said recently he was OK with that approach.
Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner, who has done his best to talk out of both sides of his mouth on amnesty, also said last week that immigration reform was far from dead.
Of course what McCarthy conveniently left out is that Obama is only OK with a piecemeal approach if it includes all of the elements of the hated Rubio-Obama Gang of Eight amnesty and open borders bill.
Senator Jeff Sessions, Alabamas principled spokesman for American exceptionalism and the rule of law, was quick to call House Republican leaders to task for their abandonment of We The People in favor of Big Business.
House leaders must lay out clearly to the American people the Presidents dismal record on immigration. During his time in office, the President has systematically dismantled interior enforcement, handcuffing immigration officers and bypassing Congress. These factsdrawn from the testimony of immigration officers themselvesshould be clearly documented before the whole nation. No agreement should be entered into while such lawlessness continues.
Why are the establishment leaders of the House GOP apparently abandoning the interests of We The People in favor of Big Business?
Its simple: Thats where the money is.
The drive for an amnesty bill is being supported by numerous billionaires, and Big Business CEOs, including New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, Fox News Rupert Murdoch and Facebooks Mark Zuckerberg.
And as The Daily Caller's White House correspondent Neil Munro documented, “Since 2007, progressive and business groups have spent more than $1.5 billion on advocacy and lobbying to pass an immigration bill, despite massive unemployment, stalled salaries and negative polls.
The goal of all this Big business spending and influence peddling is also simple: Hold American wages down to increase shareholder value.
Current law already allows 1 million legal immigrants and 700,000 guest workers to enter the country each year. As Munro noted, the Senate bill would expand legal immigration and open Americas borders to some 30 million additional legal immigrants, plus millions of temporary guest workers, over the next decade.
That influx would import roughly one immigrant or guest-worker for every American aged 11 to 21, or one immigrant for every American teenager in 2012, says Munro.
The immigrants that Big Business wants to “welcome” to America would be entering an economy in which the 16-19 age cohort has an unemployment rate of 22.60% while the 20-24 age cohort is experiencing 12.80% unemployment.
Let's be clear what that means. That's one immigrant to compete for a job with every American teenager and young adult — one immigrant to compete for a job with your children and grandchildren in an economy that already has seen record unemployment among its young citizens.
If you are the parent or grandparent of a child who will be entering the workforce in the next decade you owe to your children and grandchildren to stand with Senator Jeff Sessions and oppose the self-interested demands of Big Business for an opening of Americas borders and amnesty for illegal aliens.
As Senator Sessions put it so well, America is not an oligarchy. Congressional leaders must forcefully reject the notion, evidently accepted by the President, that a small cadre of CEOs can tailor the nations entire immigration policy to suit their narrow interests. A Republic must answer to the people.
To fight back against the Big Business push for amnesty and open borders It is vital that you sign our no amnesty petition, and watch the videos in our Short Course on immigration and amnesty TODAY to arm yourself intellectually to win the “no amnesty” debate.
For the last 40 years The Party of Government (both Republican wing and Democrat wing) has done everything it can to replace American voters with Mexicans.
Why is that?
I think it is designed in the short run to benefit the companies economically by lowering the cost of wages.
In the long run the plan is “the road to serfdom”.
It's Big Government that's on top of the pyramid. Individuals inside of Big Business are simply the pathetic cronies enabling Big Government's increasing power.
A Fascist country needs its slaves....
The campaign ads just write themselves.
In other words, it's the installation of a political & corporate aristocracy.
It seems we can not expect the population of lower skilled “workers” already here to get off their lazy butts and compete for these jobs. Better to let them continue on at the government teat than to expect any more from them. Thus the need to import replacements. It will just be a matter of time until the replacements become convinced of their own victimhood and latch on to said teat. Then what? Logic would dictate we put an end to the welfare state for all but the truly needy. But that would be racist, wouldn’t it? I believe we have dug a hole from which there is no peaceful escape. Once immigrants came here seeking freedom to work and succeed, to stand on their own feet. That was before we became a Great Society.
I’m afraid one day we will elect our Fuhrer also....
Hats off to Senator Sessions - one of a handfull of principled lawmakers left in the GOP (and therefore Congress
in it’s entirety).
Most of whom, interestingly, went to the same schools...
His plan is, no immigration discussions until the border is secured, to be certified by each border state.
ANN COULTER SUPER WOMAN
ANNIE COULTER.....:WARRIOR PRINCESS/TIMELESS PATRIOT
I believe "we" have... twice in 4 years time.
This particular Fuhrer ginned up the votes in the general election, but still wasn’t able to gin up support for his dear Obamacare. He’s in trouble.
bttt
The Business Roundtable/Chamber types believe firmly that what this country needs is a good five-cent human being.
Anyone willing and able to put his hand up and underbid you for your job is just a better man than you are, and always was. Capiche?
