Federal agents said they have arrested an elderly Wisconsin man after he threatened to shoot President Barack Obama.
According to court records, 81-year-old Elwyn Nels Fossedal stated during a visit to the Richland Center post office on Oct. 15 that, "if President Obama was here I would shoot him right there and kill him right now."
U.S. Secret Service agents interviewed the man at the Richland Center Police Department the next day. They said he refused to recant his threat and made a number of other threats against Obama. Fossedal was charged on Nov. 21 with threatening the president.
But Fossedal faces other charges in connection with actions he is accused of taking with police and family afterward.
According to court documents, after Secret Service agents interviewed Fossedal, Richland Center police took him into protective custody for psychological evaluation due to "comments he had made toward the president and also his inconsistencies with speaking to the agents and to the police officers."

Cannot imagine he will get convicted as charged.
Let’s put the seniors in jail, and the criminals in a nursing home.
This way the seniors would have access to showers, hobbies, and walks, they’d receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs etc. and they’d receive money instead of paying it out.
They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly, if they fell, or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes, and bring their meals and snacks to their cell. They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counseling, pool, and education.
Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, P.J.’s and legal aid would be free, on request. Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with gardens. Each senior could have a P.C. a T.V. radio, and daily phone calls. There would be a board of directors, to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct, that would be strictly adhered to.
The “criminals” would get cold food, be left all alone, and unsupervised; lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week. Live in a tiny room, and pay $5000.00 per month and have no hope of ever getting out.
Your astute observation rang a distant bell in this 82 year olds memory. I do remember that some fairly well known media personality said this. To the effect that a Republican politicians wife and children should be killed. I do concede it was not really serious, but how b....y nasty!
I have respect for the office of the presidency and indeed still have a certain amount respect for President Obama. Ok, I know it is somewhat against the grain here. My anger is against the rotters that corrupted his young mind. Now, I have quite a story about meeting a man who was going to assassinate Canada's socialist/communist Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau..... (laughs)

what if someone impersonates you on the internet or hacks your account on some site and writes a "threat". then your life is ruined. also what if someone falsely accuses you of saying something. ridiculous

I doubt even the FEMA camps would be large enough to hold everyone sympathetic with his sentiment. It isn’t going to get any better, and we will reach the point where people spit after saying his name.

This in reference to my comment about a media personality and his scurrilous comment about someone's family. Saved by the bell and I thank you. For I was going to indict one Bill Maher, something told me to just get the facts first. Of course Bill is not to particular himself in his obscene diatribes.
During his appearance on the comedy late night show Late Night with Conan O’Brien on December 12, 1998, eight days before President Bill Clinton was to be impeached, Baldwin said, “If we were in another country ... we would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and kill their wives and their children. We would kill their families, for what they’re doing to this country.” Baldwin later apologized for the remarks, and the network explained it was meant as a joke and promised not to rerun it.
