Lamar Alexander: RINO on the run?
The Washington Times ^ | November 30. 2013 | Judson Phillips

The conventional wisdom is that Lamar Alexander is in a position that almost any political would kill for.

The Republican Senator from Tennessee represents a state that has gone from being a purple state even a decade ago to a solidly red state. Ten years ago, a Democrat sat in the governor’s mansion. The Democrats controlled both the State House and State Senate, albeit with a Speaker of the Senate who governed with a coalition of Republicans and Democrats.

Lamar Alexander is now running ads in Tennessee in advance of his primary election. On its face, that does not seem unusual except his primary is not until August. In the last fundraising quarter, Lamar Alexander raised $840,000 but spent $1.1 million. He is now engaged in a huge advertising buy nine months in advance of the election.

Why would he do that?

Ping. Let me know if you want to be added to / removed from BeatLamar! Ping list. Please ping me to threads of interest - winning the Senate in 2014.

First Alexander, then Corker, and Tennessee will be free of its RINOS. Good Riddance!

Wasn’t he in the Senate before they had electricity?

Joe swore to me that if he had been in the Senate, he would have stood with Ted Cruz. Lamar! has publicly distanced himself himself - just like his hero, McCain.

At the end of September, Lamar has some $2.8 million on hand. Don’t know what
the year end filing will show. Sounds like he is trying to discourage any credible
competition with his early campaigning.

It seems that. He has done nothing but government work all his life. He was a very good piano player. I have a cousin who faced him in several competitions.

Sweetness: We get rid of McConnell, you get rid of Alexander.

Let’s make it happen!

The “wise guys” are not giving Carr a snowball’s chance, due to the money situation. I have my concerns about his inexperience and, frankly, lack of knowledge that could well trip him up.

He is not as smart as Cruz (who is?) but I have confidence that his core principles are solid.

He’s going for a money bomb looking for 500 donors of ANY amount, by end of day today.

I hope he runs till he is out of breath and wheezing on the side of the road. Time for collaborators to be exiled

You got a deal! We are ramping up a boots on the ground effort to kick off in January. I have done a little canvassing and am encouraged from what I am hearing.

I wish I knew more about who is running his campaign and how good they are. We do have a slick app that we use for the canvassing. I expect the effort will pick up steam after New Year.

It’s a shame but money is one of the major driving forces for a statewide election.
That’s why the incumbents solicit funds continuous throughout their elected cycle.
It gives them such an advantage over the competition that may rise to challenge them.

I would not say that I do. I did get to meet him and spoke with him at some length back in September.

Lamar is proof of the rumor that “senator” is Latin for “feces”.

Hoping the primary voters see thru Alexander’s fake Reagan Conservative claims.
