She can defend it while she is running for re-election and she can kiss all those lovely perks behind as she gets beaten.

There are, and she also has Republican support from such people as the president of St. Tammany Parish (a large suburban parish outside New Orleans). The late Gov. David Treen was also a Landrieu booster. The runoff, presumably between Landrieu and Rep. Bill Cassidy, will be in December 2014; the primary in LA is held in November along with the November general elections elsewhere. People in LA have not defeated a U.S. senator since, I believe, 1930.
