SACRAMENTO, California — An ongoing federal investigation of a California senator is roiling the Democratic leadership in Sacramento and threatens to complicate relations in the majority party when lawmakers reconvene in January.

FBI agents raided the offices of Sen. Ron Calderon in June, but the drama escalated within the past month when the Los Angeles-area lawmaker tried to tar his fellow Democrats after they stripped him of his committee assignments and one called for his resignation.

Calderon has denied allegations he took money in return for promoting bills, but some analysts say the inquiry could affect the re-election chances for incumbent Democrats next year.

In documents filed last month in federal court, he said the raid of his offices came after he refused FBI requests to wear a recording device and act as an informant against Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg of Sacramento and Sen. Kevin de Leon of Los Angeles, both fellow Democrats.

Will there be any RATS left by 2014?

Not to worry. If these guys go to prison, the Democrat voters will vote them right back into office when they get out.

Step out of line, we’ll get you, one way or another.

I hope this kills Sen. Kevin de Leon of Los Angeles too.
He has been prolific in putting up CA anti gun laws.

Former Massachusetts State Senate President William Bulger asked to comment, shrugged and wondered why California law makers haven't learned to control the local FBI.

It’s astonishing that it’s even possible for the FBI to investigate a Democrat.

Willie Lantigua, former mayor for life in Lawrence, MA, stole city property, including garbage and dump trucks, and sold them in his native Dominican Republic, and only lost his bid for re-election by about 80 votes, against another Hispanic Democrat. Now that he is out of power, the Federal grand jury and state attorney-general Martha Cloakley (who lost “Ted Kennedy’s” senate seat to Scott Brown) might actually begin a serious investigation into his crimes.

IOW, I doubt any of this will have any effect whatsoever at the ballot box. We have sold our birthright for a mess of pottage.

It's always been about the money! Every rat in D.C. gets rich in short order. The state houses are the training grounds for the big top in D.C. In Cobb county GA. the county commoner's have just got a big pay day from a sports team. I think even my trash man has something going on the side.

If they pad the courts the way they intend, they will find anyone who questions them to be wrong-minded felons.

They will just replace one democrat with another democrat. That state is 80% masochists. They love being abused.

I just feel sorry for the 20% who are not.

If the FBI's going after a democrat it's either really bad, or they're helping a different democrat... Like the IRS they go after political enemies of the The Federal Assembly ( Федеральное Собрание )

As soon as it looks like significant corruption, the DOJ and media will bury it. Like Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS scandal, Solyndra, voter fraud, NSA surveillance, etc., etc.
