It's about protecting the liberty of Americans from the dangers of concentrated government power. How does the president's unilateral modification of act of Congress affect both the balance of power between the political branches and the liberty interests of the American people?
JONATHAN TURLEY: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. The danger is quite severe. The problem with what the president is doing is that he's not simply posing a danger to the constitutional system. He's becoming the very danger the Constitution was designed to avoid. That is the concentration of power in every single branch.

I dont know about that but this shows he is not a partision, his principles, like them or not, dont flip with party change.
I cant say that about a certain talk show host who plays constitutional expert, who flips constitution with administration changes.
At one point during the hearing, one of the witnesses said that instead of the two parties being upset when the other party does something wrong, they should be more upset when their own party does something wrong. Possibly this was Cannon, maybe Turley.
Only problem is that only applies if we are living in an ethical era. But it is a good point in a way.
Possibly the time to impeach is now, with many more Dem Senate seats up for grabs next November. Make them declare themselves on this issue, even if Democrats. Then maybe there will be some Dem votes in the Senate in favor of impeachment.
I always thought that Article II, Section 1, clause 5 of the United States Constitution was supposed to protect us from him ever assuming the office of POTUS IN THE FIRST PLACE. But the RNC, John Boehner and the aggregate in the political combine tell me that there are more important things to worry about.

The GOP is more concerned with mainstream media approval than upholding their sworn oaths to defend the Constitution.
Most of us knew he was full of crap and was really just trolling for some outlandish quotes he could use when writing about the far right lunatic fringe.
Some people took him at his word and tried to present reasoned arguments to him, but the majority of us didn't believe him and goofed on him. Sure enough, when his book came out, it included a section about the right wing internet nuts who were unfairly out to get Bill Clinton, citing FR by name and finding some random nutty or racist quotes to make his case.
Nothing but nothing could ever turn him against Bill Clinton. Apparently Obama doesn't get that univeral loyalty. Obviously, Turley's a racist.
Turley’s students made an *** out of him.
This was in Turley’s heyday as a media pundit-—the students left a slew of bogus messages for him.
They caught him flat-footed when he quickly responded to media messages ONLY.

Turley called for Bush’s impeachment for a lot less.
If you watched the same hearing I did, it would appear there is nothing that can be done. Elections were the most often mentioned remedy, but if elections are as rigged as I believe them to be, then what?
Impeachment was referred to as the "I" word that no one wanted to mention. In any case impeachment could go forward, with zero chance of removal by the Senate, so is discounted.
The Vice President can only vote to break a tie, so he would have no vote in this?

If 1999 is way back to you I envy you. Yes, Turley was a tireless defender of Clinton, and yes, there is enough racial dialogue on FR to earn it a bad reputation.
