Obama admin: It’s now ok for wind turbines to kill eagles because we’re trying to save the…

News flash: You’re now allowed to kill bald eagles, but only if the people who care more about the earth’s inhabitants than you do consider your purpose just.

We’re used to end of the week document dumps, but this is more like a Friday eagle drop:

The Obama administration said Friday it will allow some companies to kill or injure bald and golden eagles for up to 30 years without penalty, an effort to spur development and investment in green energy while balancing its environmental consequences.

The change, requested by the wind energy industry, will provide legal protection for the lifespan of wind farms and other projects for which companies obtain a permit and make efforts to avoid killing the birds.
[...]
Under the change announced Friday, companies would have to commit to take additional measures if they kill or injure more eagles than they have estimated they would, or if new information suggests that eagle populations are being affected. The permits would be reviewed every five years, and companies would have to submit reports of how many eagles they kill. Now such reporting is voluntarily, and the Interior Department refuses to release the information.

So desperate has the administration become to keep perpetuating the “green” sham that eagle sacrifice has now been approved. Meanwhile, if you accidentally kill a spotted owl after chopping down a tree, you can still go to jail (a year for the owl, six months more for the tree, and three additional if it fell on a snail). Unless of course you can convince the administration you did it in order to put up a wind turbine that somehow benefited a favored campaign donor.

Before long it might be legal to dispose of batteries by dumping them in the river, but only if the batteries came from electric cars. Anything to save the planet.

In my understanding, an Executive Order is an administrative order from the Executive Branch of the government to the agencies, bureaus, and units directly under its supervision. It can have broad reaching implications because of the multiple agencies it directs who are charged with enforcing laws, rules and regulations.

To my mind, an EO cannot directly tell ME to do anything and I would not comply. That is not to say some agency could not come down on me harshly for violating one of their silly ass rules. I digress.

It is my understanding that Executive Orders can be rescinded and have been, primarily by Democrat Presidents upon entering the office. I believe most of the past Republican Presidents have not been so quick to do so, except perhaps President Reagan.

I believe that for me to support anyone on the conservative or Republican side, he/she would have to swear conclusively that he/she would undo all of Obama’s Executive Orders. It is a deal breaker for me along with Amnesty, budgeting and a few other things.

I have a real problem with the ever-broadening power of the EO. In my mind, it has become a way for the President to legislate - something the Executive branch was not granted the power to do. I see the exemption from certain laws granted to individuals or corporations as legislation. As Trey Gowdy asked, if the President can ignore certain laws as he has done, can he also ignore election law? Can he EO his way to a dictatorship?

Obama thinks he can dictate by EO, but there is established Constitutional language in its powers as well as established precedent. EOs generally have to cite some specific Statutory law to which it clarifies the interpretation of (by the Executive) or augments. There have been EOs without that citation and they are administrative orders - as far as I'm concerned, I don't work for him and I won't willingly comply, say as in a gun turn-in EO because it would be against the 2nd amendment in my mind. He is abusing the power, certainly, and I reiterate, the next candidate that I vote for had damned well better swear he'll rescind EVERY EO Obama ever signed.

UNBELIEVABLE!! Our state of Oregon and to some degree Washington and California are economically dead due to a bird that had to be saved when we harvest our #1 resource, trees.
The saving of the spotted owl has devastated our state economy for 20 years!
Killing a bald or golden eagle is a federal crime. I know sheep ranchers that have been fined $2500 for killing an eagle with a baby lamb in its mouth, good God what is happening to our country!!

Elsie,

Please don’t buy into the political lies about DDT. Actual science experiments found no causal link between egg shell thinning and DDT, even with massive doses.

Check out section VI here. http://junkscience.com/1999/07/26/100-things-you-should-know-about-ddt/

Eagles are stupid. Crows lure them near wind farms then go eat their remains.

Conservatives are stupid. Liberals lure them near voting booths, then go steal their money.

I am this cynical, Cui bono? Who Benefits?

My guess, the cleanup crews for the birds will be those that can handle the feathers legally...

Look for Crony-Statist Contracts with ties to the Regime in this arena?

Brietbart are you lurking?

WOW!

46. To the extent egg shell thinning occurred, many other substances and conditions could have been responsible.

I'll pull a MSM tactic and say, "Well; the causes may be wrong; but it was the right thin g to do. For the children, anyway."

My point was that the Gummint cares more about birds than humans.

I agree with you on that. Rachel Carson and her book is responsible for jhundreds of millions of unnecessary Malaria deaths. The science does not prove her theory.

I just found this too.
