It is good that he is coming home, but I wonder why did he go there in the first place?

I looked it up.He was talking about a group he was part of during the War and asking the tour guide if he knew of them.I think they pulled him off the plane and he was charged with things that happened during the war. Then he had to apologize.Biden offered to fly him back but he wanted a direct flight. He is 85.

To see if any of the infiltrators he trained were still around.

I looked it up too.
It appears the group he was with were UN clandestine special forces groups that operated during the Korean War.
Considering the classified nature, this guy got what he deserved for even mentioning it.
After reading his bio, and that a former New Mexico governor, a lefty Dem, helped in his release, I figure the guy must be some dimwit libtard, proven beyond a reasonable doubt when he opened his mouth to a communist state about secret war units.

If that's the case he probably had no qualms in reading a false confession (if it was indeed false).

I wonder what was promised behind the scenes by this WH to the NK for his release?

I was going with the dopey libtard part from the gitgo. When was the last time you heard of a Vet from any war getting mouthy in his old age about how cool his secret part of the war was? Shooting ones mouth off in a country you once waged undercover war in indicates severe/ extreme detachment from reality. And this case we are technically still at war, only a cease fire. I always understand wanting to visit a spot where you lost good friends but mouth-shooting about it? no way-——Semper Fi
