Christian Science Monitor ^ | December 8 2013 | Brad Knickerbocker

He’s the maverick Republican/libertarian US Senator and son of another maverick Republican/libertarian who ran for the White House three times and shook up the GOP in the process – retired US Rep. Ron Paul. Sen. Paul is just a couple of points behind front-runner New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for the nomination in the RealClearPolitics.com polling average.

We don't want your wife to run, Rand. We want either you, Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin or anyone the Republicrat establishment fears will upset their applecart.

I hope she prevails.

We need more Senators like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Mike Lee. Senator DeMint was one of the first to try to stem the Progressive tide in Congress, but the Establishment eventually wore him down.

Perhaps this time there’ll be strength in numbers.

This is bad news. Rande was the only GOP candidate that could have picked up the Rick “HIS RICKNESS” Perry sexy/gay block of voters.

The GOP needs a “man pretty” POTUS candidate.

I’m fine with him staying in the Senate, and he doesn’t have a lot of executive experience anyway.

Moreover, who could blame his wife for not wanting to follow in Moochelles footsteps (shudder)

Good. He’s unpredictable and not loyal, like Christie (not as bad)

Can you imagine the uproar in 2012 if Palin (or Bachmann, for that matter) had said she wasn’t running because her husband told her ‘no’?

too bad they don’t have a “modern” marriage like the Massachusetts congressman tierny has with his wife. he and his wife don’t know each other’s business, which he said is the reason he didn’t know his wife laundered 7 million for her gangster brother and he had no idea how much was in her bank account.
(of course, we voted him in again)

I think he wants to run so he may be using the missus as an excuse to keep hedging until the right time.

Mr. GG2 and I have decided this next time around if there even is one we are only going to vote for Cruz or Paul. No more caving in to the GOP leadership and choking down a RINO or moderate.

Amnesty alone was reason to back Cruz over Paul.

I’m sorry to hear that Ben Carson is leaning toward taking the Herman Cain, vanity, conservative vote-splitting role in 2016.

Headline presumes a conclusion NOT supported by Paul’s words. His words:

“There’s two votes in my family. My wife has both of them and both of them are ‘no’ votes right now.”

“If I’m a very able politician, I’ll tell you in a year whether I’m able to persuade my wife. Right now, I don’t know yet, but I thank you for your interest,” he said.

Actually Palin did cite her family’s opposition as one reason she decided not to run.
