You've misread poor King Canute.

This quote and explanatory text comes from viking.no

"Let all men know how empty and worthless is the power of kings. For there is none worthy of the name but God, whom heaven, earth and sea obey".

So spoke King Canute the Great, the legend says, seated on his throne on the seashore, waves lapping round his feet. Canute had learned that his flattering courtiers claimed he was "So great, he could command the tides of the sea to go back". Now Canute was not only a religious man, but also a clever politician. He knew his limitations - even if his courtiers did not - so he had his throne carried to the seashore and sat on it as the tide came in, commanding the waves to advance no further. When they didn't, he had made his point that, though the deeds of kings might appear 'great' in the minds of men, they were as nothing in the face of God's power.

We'd be far better off to have elected Canute president than the evil blot currently disfiguring humanity's rump.

These record reports are from very localized, especially cold spots. If you look at personal weather station histories for the past three days the lows will be significantly higher than those reported in the article.

In addition to the ice site I also check this one at the same time...

http://www.spaceweather.com/

Just a habit I got into years back when “Man Caused Global Warming” was really hitting everything hard.

It’s kind of nice to keep up with what sun spots and the ice pack are up to.

Was -23°F Sunday morning for me. This was the coldest I’ve recorded in the six years I’ve lived here.

In nearby Klamath Falls, they were calling it a poor air quality day, so no wood stove burning allowed.

Even places in Western Oregon dipped below zero Sunday morning. My sister told me she took some milk out of the fridge to have with her oatmeal and it froze on the table while she was eating. Such is life in an old farmhouse when it is -10 outside. This morning they built the fire extra big, nobody should have to have the milk freeze on the kitchen table.

Winter of '72 was the coldest on record in Western Oregon and yesterday it came within a couple degrees of that.

We are in the relative warmth of SE New Mexico, where it was 14 yesterday. But I should mention it dipped to 2 one December night in 2010, and in 2011-2012 (between Dec 23 and about Jan 6) we had 22" of snowfall (14" in one day), more than had ever been recorded before, and more than I had personally seen anywhere since the winter of '62 in Appalachia.

So, how is this global warming?

**no wood stove burning allowed.**

That’s crazy for the Klamath Falls area.

Being a Ham Radio Operator, I use spaceweather.com and space.com quite a bit. Both great sites and you are 100% correct!

Merry Christmas
