STOCKMAN CHALLENGING CORNYN FOR US SENATE

‘Harry Reid’s Republican’ killed filibuster of amnesty, voted to fund Obamacare, approved leftist judges, tried to defeat Paul, Rubio and Cruz

AUSTIN – Congressman Steve Stockman (R-TX 36) announced Monday he is leaving his United States House seat to challenge U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

“You and I are in a foxhole fighting to save this constitutional Republic, but liberal John Cornyn is bayoneting us in the back,” said Stockman.  “Liberal John Cornyn betrayed Ted Cruz and worked with Harry Reid to fund Obamacare.”

“Liberal John Cornyn wakes up every morning and works to make the Senate a more liberal place.  That’s why I am running for the United States Senate.  I have a 100% pro-gun, pro-life, conservative voting record in Congress,” said Stockman.

“Liberal John Cornyn can’t run on his record, so he will start smearing and attacking me from day one,” said Stockman.

“As my friend Ted Cruz proved, Texans want conservative champions to represent them in the United States Senate.  No one has been a more fearless conservative in Congress than I,” said Stockman.

“I stand with my friends Rand Paul and Ted Cruz.  Unlike liberal John Cornyn, I will not be Harry Reid’s Republican,” said Stockman.

Stockman’s House withdrawal and Senate candidacy were filed in Austin at 5:59 p.m. CT.

John Cornyn claims to be the 2nd most conservative member of the Senate.
Yet, as Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee he
hand-selected these "Republican" candidates:
  • Arlen Specter - Democrat
  • Charlie Crist - Democrat
  • Lincoln Chafee - Democrat
  • Lisa Murkowski - Independent
Also, when he had a chance to stop ObamaCare by supporting Ted Cruz' filibuster
he FAILED
and hid behind a meaningless vote later.

If Stockman gets the endorsement of Cruz and Michael Berry, Cornyn mightas well announce his retirement.

I’d hold fire. It doesn’t look like he has an official senate candidacy page yet. It’ll be up within a week hopefully. Really hoping he can pull this off.

He'll pull it off..I'm certain of it. Stockman is very well respected in Texas.

Could not have been a better challenger...He’z perfect to go against RINO Cornyn.

I'm just excited to the bone. I wrote Cornyn’s site months ago and called his office to inform him that I would do whatever necessary to ensure he does not return to the U.S. Senate.

Well.....yeeehaaa! Lovin this.

The turn of events just minutes before the candidate filing deadline on Monday caught even party officials by surprise.

An aide for Stockman walked into GOP headquarters in Austin and “withdrew his application for 36 and submitted a new application for U.S. Senate,” said GOP spokesman Spencer Yeldell. “Until then it was a pretty laid-back day.”

I’m not happy with Linda’s numbers in SC though. He’s at 54%. If he stays there, he avoids a runoff. Nobody I want gone more than Lindsey freakin’ Grahamnesty!

Cornyn was scared to death before he even had a challenger.

I bet he is petrified now!

I don't think Ted Cruz is endorsing in the Primary. Michael Berry is a great Conservative Radio Host (He and I grew up in the same small, Texas town.) but, Texas is a mighty big State. Not sure how well known he is beyond Houston and Southeast Texas. I'm still going with Linda Vega at this time. A female with a Hispanic surname is a whole heck of a lot of votes. One candidate (can't remember his name) has already dropped out and endorsed her.

He gained his claim to fame by defeating Jack Brooks in the GOP sweep in ‘94. But, he lost the next election and did not hold office until he was elected in 2012. He’s not that well known. Those who know him, do respect him. I’m not so certain he will “pull it off” as you say. But, if he is the nominee, I’ll support him 100%.

I hear ya. Cornyn’s name is mud in conservative circles.

Many folks I know have been waiting for a person with name recognition and ability to raise the funds to unseat the incumbent.

Remember...NOONE knew Ted Cruz. Virtual unknown.

Dewhurst had the financial backers and outspent Ted. Dewhurst was well connected with the power players within the republican party.

He lost in a runoff with Ted Cruz...thanx to various tea party groups and conservative grassroots support.
