Why Sarah Palin should have just let it go with Martin Bashir (Heavy-duty Dem-mentia)
The Daily Caller ^ | December 9, 2013 | Paul Goldman, Former VA Democratic Chairman

Posted on 12/10/2013 12:37:31 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Whoops, there it is: Sarah Palin’s fear of enslavement to the Chinese may actually be true. “Don’t wish for something, you just might get it” is a paraphrase of the often-cited Chinese proverb. The former GOP vice presidential nominee had called on MSNBC to cancel Martin Bashir’s talk show. Bashir was, at the time, serving as the conscience of the network, striking fear into those who defied political correctness.

Not since King George has a Brit been so brash. Leaving aside Piers what’s-his-name, perhaps.

To no one’s surprise, a few weeks ago. Marty found something Ms. Palin said to be idiotic. Like that is new? This is the reason Roger Ailes at Fox News decided not to renew her contract, a polite way to say, to quote a great line from the movie “Moneyball,” that “she lacked confidence” at her position as political commentator. Even the Foxy conservatives had long grown tired of Palin’s woe is me conservative victimization routine.

But Marty, trying to earn his bones, as Tony Soprano might have said, couldn’t resist. Had MSNBC not left him twisting in the wind but instead at least done an Ailes-light thing — suspend him, censure him, make him kiss the right behind in Times Square after waiting an hour for a crowd to gather – Mr. Bashir would be in the same place, with a daily television talk show and no real audience. But they refused. He then apologized, hoping this would stem the political bleeding. But an apology without punishment is just spin, a pound of flesh needs to be taken, so to speak.

Since I and many others had called for him to be fired, his resigning is de facto the same thing....

Exactly. Countless lefties, responding to the controversy over Bashir’s remarks, protest that “Oh, Rush and other conservatives have said equally bad or worse things all the time?” Really? Like what? (If they had, I’d probably support a job action against them, too. Some things are beyond the pale.)

a Canadian who knows little of American law

Has to pay a fine at U.S. Customs in Toronto, iirc.

U.S. Customs officials who found dope in Cancucks passing though U.S. Customs and Immigration in Toronto's Lester B. Pearson Field (with no requirement to repeat the process in the U.S.) would allow the offender to pay a fine on the spot, and be allowed to proceed. U.S. Customs officers would escort them to the ATM, which caused a fuss when when it was reported in the Globe and Mail. So the next time I went through U.S. customs in Toronto, there was a large Mountie with a German Sheppard (Alsatian) on a leash. Message: dump your dope before passing through U.S. customs.

"After reading a small portion of Comrade Goldman’s screed, as a Canadian who knows little of American law, is marijuana and LSD now legal in Virginia?"

No, but McAuliffe hasn't even taken office yet....give him a while.

Did Palin herself suggest that Bashir’s show be cancelled?

I can't say with 100 percent certainty, but from the interviews I saw I didn't hear her call for any such thing. This libturd just proves that Palin lives rent free in their heads 27-7!

I watched Palin on The Factor with Max Headroom. She was very intelligent. Ted Baxter kept trying to get her to say that Bashir should be fired, and he even asked her “if you were his boss, would you fire him?” She responded that if she was his boss, that sort of hostile environment to conservatives would not have happened.

Then the Bloviator went on to say both sides, conservatives and liberals are the same, and that talk radio, owned by conservatives is vile, just as bad as the liberals.

If it wasn’t for Palin being on his show, I wouldn’t have watched it. That guy is becoming more and more of a d*ck as the years go on.

Go away O’Reilly, you are now part of the Georgetown Cocktail Scene.

BTW, I’m lookin out for you Bill. You are past your expiration date. And, I’m lookin out for “the folks”, which you no longer relate to.

She’s possibly the best populist since Huey Long or Billy Sunday, and they know just how powerful that can be. Notice that Obama/Biden and the DNC/media went after her, not McStain, after she was introduced? And they haven’t let up since that day.

BOR[E] is not a conservative. He is a populist who enjoys needling lefties more often than righties. I watch YouTube’s of the Miller Time segments for Dennis Miller’s wit, but otherwise BOR lost me ages ago with his idiotic populist statements such as that “everyone knows that” oil companies manipulate the retail price of gasoline.

Stupid ass Dem..Sarah DID let it go..in fact she never even asked for Bashir to be fired..and she accepted his fake ass apology too..leave it to Dems to always have outrage when someone on their side is attacked, but when a Conservative woman is told to have poop put inside their mouth not a peep

Thanks for the info. My comment was in reference to Goldman’s statement. It came across to me, as the ramblings of someone tripping out on something!

This didn’t go as long as it did because Sarah Palin said anything about it. This went as long as it did because MSNBC let it go as long as it did and a lot of people, not just Palin fans, thought Bashir was unacceptably crass. And, um, he was.

Yeah, I like Miller, but won’t sit through BOR usually to see him. You have to endure too much of Max Headroom.

I didn’t know I could find them on YouTube, I’ll look for them, and thank you for the tip.

I am really liking Gutfeld (sic?) and the Kelly Files lately though. The Five and Redeye are interesting to me. Gretta? Well, somedays she’s ok, other days, not so good (as long as there are no missing white girls, she’s pretty good).

Oh, and I like Cavuto as well. Mainly for his guests.

But BOR, man, he irks me to death. Ever since he fabricated crap about FR and ranted about us.

That’s when I knew he jumped the shark.

Well, plus his perpetual bloviating about how the TEA party is ruining any chance of the GOP winning anything, and his slobbering love affair with McCain, or any so called “moderate”, who has been in a “Gang of 8, 12, 10, or whatever”.

From his comments one must conclude that Paul Goldman is an evil man. Stupid, hateful, misogynist asshole. Am I missing anything?

No, I'd say that about covers it.
