[Rep. Elijah] Cummings: Ted Cruz 'got an earful' from Dems on South Africa trip
The Baltimore Sun ^ | December 10, 2013 | John Fritze

Rep. Elijah E. Cummings is in South Africa for Nelson Mandela's memorial, but that doesn't mean he's abandoned domestic policy. In fact, Cummings said he and other Democrats in the official delegation have used the trip to debate with Sen. Ted Cruz on Obamacare.

"He got an earful from many of us -- I mean it was a very good conversation, nothing negative," the Baltimore Democrat said in an interview from Johannesburg. "I just reminded him that I'm concerned about the many people in my state and his state who have no health insurance."

Cruz -- a Texas Republican best known for his filibuster-like speech ahead of this year's government shutdown -- and Cummings are among about two dozens U.S. lawmakers in an official delegation paying tribute to Mandela. The former South African leader died on Thursday.

The journey gave lawmakers plenty of time to talk, Cummings said.

"It's clear to me he's running for president -- I don’t have any doubt about it," said Cummings who noted that Democratic Rep. John Lewis of Georgia and others also spoke with Cruz in what he described as a cordial debate. "I know he got an earful for 20 hours out and he's going to get another earful for 20 hours on the way back."(continued)

Cumming represents my district in the People’s Republic of Maryland. I had the good fortune of meeting both Cruz and Palin at the WWII Memorial when it was opened by the vets during the shutdown. Cummings having a conversation with Cruz is like Pee Wee Herman talking brain surgery with Ben Carson.

Cummings has his deficiencies, but he could probably best a good many in discussions of this nature. Hard as it may be to cobble, pray for him, and pray that whatever plans he has that would harm our nation be put to naught. Even the most deficient thinkers in our midst, however, are a remarkable creation.

By their actions they will tell us who they’re scared of. They dogged a bullet in 2012 when Palin decided not to run and splintered conservative support in the primaries. If Cruz runs in 2016 they won’t be lucky this time.

Ted Cruz is about to unload on Obama with both barrels. I am waiting to see how that will happen.

Are you waiting to see how it will happen, or turn out?

If my Sen Cruz unloads on 0, it will be a glorious thing, no doubt!

"I just reminded him that I'm concerned about the many people in my state and his state who have no health insurance."

Health insurance does not mean health care. Just ask the Mexican moms that cross the border from Juarez to El Paso, so their babies can be born at University Medical Center.

In my mind, Monica is the absolute creme de la creme of the female conservative commentators. She’s supremely intelligent and articulate and absolutely never bends or apologizes for the RINOs. She understands the mindset of the left as well as Dennis Prager, understands the Constitution as well as Mark Levin and is as unwavering in the face of criticism as Rush Limbaugh. Her radio show is a joy to listen to if you’re lucky to get it or track it down online.

An earful, eh? I imagine Cruz gave them a rhetorical fistful in reply.

Ted, never argue with idiots.
They’ll bring you down to their level then beat you with experience.

OBAMA FOLLOWS MANDELA'S LEGACY AND VOWS TO THE CUBAN TYRANT

obamaraul

mandelafidel

Mandela once cheering, “‘Long live Comrade Fidel Castro!’” Mandela referred to Gaddafi as “‘my brother leader” and Arafat as “‘a comrade in arms.’”

And what is Mandela’s legacy to his native South Africa? It is the purpose of Mercer’s book to show that it is nothing to write home about. “Since he [Mandela] came to power in 1994, approximately 300,000 people have been murdered.” “Bit by barbaric bit,” she writes, “South Africa is being dismantled by official racial socialism, obscene levels of crime—organized and disorganized—AIDS, corruption, and an accreting kleptocracy.”

You’re assuming that (a) this really happened, (b) Senator Cruz “argued” with them and (c) they got the best of him. See my post #19. Ted Cruz was the debate champion of NORTH AMERICA (not just the United States) during college! Do you seriously think that Rep. Cummings or one of his comrades would have a chance against such a man? Do you think any members of the CBC have a similar resume? It is to laugh.
