The health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday.
Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday.
The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed.
Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to access certified copies of his birth certificate, signed by the delivery doctor, Obama’s mother and the local registrar. His mother, then 18, signed her name (Stanley) Ann Dunham Obama.

The Makani Kai Air Cessna 208B Grand Caravan impacted ocean waters shortly after takeoff from Kalaupapa Airport (PHLU), on the island of Molokai in Hawaii. The airplane sustained unreported damage and one of the nine occupants onboard received fatal injuries. The injury status of the remaining eight rescued occupants that were onboard the aircraft have not been disclosed.

The nature of the injuries to the other eight people on board. The article mentions only “non-life threatening”.
Some of them have already gone home or to their hotels.
How did she die?

When I worked on Little Diomede off the coast of Alaska a pilot with 5 teachers on board took off from another island in a twin engine Cessna and lost his right engine at lifting off. NO ONE SURVIVED from a low altitude crash at the airport. Very strange indeed.
