Obenshain and the AG Recount
The News & Advance (Lynchburg VA) ^ | December 12, 2013 | Editorial

Despite the reticence of most of Virginia’s Republican legislators to talk about it and the best efforts of outgoing Gov. Bob McDonnell to shoot it down, the possibility of the GOP-dominated General Assembly stepping in to decide the winner of the closely contested attorney general race is not a dead issue.

You’ll recall that Republican Mark Obenshain narrowly lost the Nov. 5 election to Democrat Mark Herring by an incredible 165 votes out of more than 2.2 million ballots cast. Electoral boards across the commonwealth are gearing up to begin a week-long recount process to make certain the ballots were counted correctly.

If Herring’s win holds up, we hope Obenshain will respect the will of the voters. He could well pull off a “win” in the GOP-dominated Assembly, but he would be viewed by the public as a usurper who “stole the election” by partisan chicanery. That is the last thing we Virginians need...

Hopefully, this will be settled by a clear final vote count.

Or frankly, by the only thing to hold mcawful back— an AG with ethics and honesty, and not a rubber stamp for a crook and tool of the clintoons-—namely, the power of the legislature, the real people’s voice to decide this. The recount has to show devious results (over votes, fake and dead voters). Ballot stuffing— to 165 votes in a 2.2 million vote, no doubt about it as the margins in the governor race were NOT that close.

I’m not sure how one race having a different outcome from another race proves anything.

“We hope Obenshain will respect the will of the voters....”

The only way this ends up in the house is if they find clear evidence of fraud that could have thrown the election to Herring.

No, it won’t. Obenshain was ahead and the total was announced. Suddenly extra votes appeared that were overwhelmingly Democratic. It seems that ballot stuffing and holding votes in reserve has become the norm in case there is a close election. I am disgusted with my former home state as they have forgotten the rich heritage of Virginians and allowed carpetbaggers to take control.

Obenshain is in the same party as Cuccinelli. NO way should the race vs. Herring been this close IF it was party line affiliated voting or ballot stuffing of the same nature that got the win for mcawful. Obenshain, in addition had significantly stronger support in VA w/in and w/out repub party than Cuccinelli. No freaking way it would or should have been this close. The recount should find considerable ballot tampering. And a legislative decision in keeping with VA Constitution.

Apparently a significant voters found Cuccinelli unacceptable but Obenshain acceptable. Some of them may have voted for Sarvis, or left the gubernatorial line blank.

Not that simple in VA. That is the point, and Sarvis was a nothing, a placeholder paid by mcawful— and every conservative in VA knew it (no thanks to the party poopers who got beat in primary).
