I didnt realize that so many people here in our corner of Rhode Island were so passionate about guns, a nonplussed Calvin Ellis told the Wall Street Journal. Bless his heart. Its safe to say, though, that he his three fellow Exeter town council members have now been thoroughly educated on that matter. Thats because, as RF relayed, 80% of the town council Ellis included stand to lose their jobs in a recall election today because they voted to transfer their shall-issue concealed carry licensing authority to the states may-issue attorney general. As resident Letitia Davis told wsj.com, Our rights are at issue hereour Second Amendment rights as well as our rights to be listened to by our elected leaders. Were listening, Letitia. And watching. You go girl. [h/t SZ]
Can a new council vote to take it back?
A more sick looking bunch of tyrants never existed. Here’s hoping they are deprived of their depravity very soon.
Give those rats the boot.
Yeah, mental illness is a terrible thing. The kinder side of me thinks that liberals should be institutionalized and kept under sedation for the rest of their lives. The practical side of me thinks they should all be force marched to kommiefornia's western border and forced to leave America. Sans any kind of flotation device.
I believe in your latter inclination. They are the same sorts of tyrants that would gladly line you up alongside of a ditch and blow your brains out because you don’t think like they do. It has been done before, many times, and it will be done again, be assured of that.
“A more sick looking bunch of tyrants never existed.”
Really? I thought they looked pretty average and ordinary. A more ordinary looking bunch of tyrants never existed.
I don’t know the recall process in RI or the likelihood of them actually being removed, but it will be a pleasant surprise if it happens. The next step would be for Rhode Islanders to get serous about the rest of the constitution as well. (After that, maybe they could spread it to their neighbors in CT and MA.)
That’s what I said. I stand by it. It makes no difference what you think to me. The only thing they are missing is the uniform of the tyrant and the dispensation to enforce their will.
Well, somebody voted these doofuses into office!
They look pretty average and ordinary to me, too.
AND ... I think it’s a mistake to apply “looks” to a political persuasion in a town such as this. I think one set of neighbors is going to look like the next set of neighbors.
Hmm, good question. One would think so, but it is lefty land.
Actually, you’re both right. I forget who originated the quote, but it goes something like “the surprising thing about tyrants is that the look just like ordinary people”.
Yes, but at that level, it's easy to see how their views on 2A might rarely, if ever, come into their local campaigns.
You get a little town & most people vote for their friends, or those that they like personally. Nutty, but true.
I have a very good friend that is so far to the left I would not vote to put him in *any* sort of office. Apparently there are other people that would do so.
'Little Eichmanns' and the 'banality of evil', concepts developed by Hanna Arendt, are what we see here. People who simply don't think out on a moral plane what they are doing and just go with the flow, just follow orders. While truly evil men thought up the great evils of the 20th century it took vast swarms of ordinary, banal, non-thinking Little Eichmanns to implement that evil.
Is there a way to do that, or will we have to wait for the Providence Pravda to announce the results tomorrow or Monday?
Little Rhody is 100% Rat. You either have a Union job that is Govt Connected or you don’t work, period!
fl
We will probably have to wait, but TTAG might have someone in the vicinity.
Maybe there is a freeper there who can inform us.
The government elections websites (Board of Elections, Sec of State) acknowledge there’s an election today, but there’s no indication they plan to report the results.
