WASHINGTONFormer Energy Secretary Steven Chu is joining the board of directors of a Canadian company that says it has a cost-effective way to capture and reuse carbon dioxide from power plants fired by coal and natural gas. Vancouver-based Inventys Thermal Technologies says it has developed a process that it says uses less energy than conventional carbon capture techniques and is less expensive.
A Nobel Prize-winning physicist, Chu served as energy secretary in President Barack Obama's first term and now teaches physics at Stanford University.
"It's a cause I believe in, and it is also something that has a shot at working," Chu said in an interview Tuesday. He was referring to so-called carbon-capture technologies, which are intended to limit pollution blamed for global warming.

This is very bad. Carbon capture is insanity—but aimed at increasing gubmint revenue. Chu knows where the policy will lead.
I’m either not smart enough or immoral enough to be making cash money off of this global warming CRAP!
Why are these scammers so richly rewarded?
(Nevermind...)
Why do they want to starve the trees and flowers and grains of the world? Why, oh why? /sarc
All who you know-cronyism.
Of COURSE he did...
I can save you from the utter destruction that I predict to be your fate.
All it will cost is your servitude forever.
What is it about ex government bow wows and energy scams ?
Crony capitalism at it’s finest.
He’ll have a “green” mansion and a fleet of Teslas.
plant a tree in your front yard, then apply for a million dollar federal grant as a carbon capture facility
Bubble the flue gas from a power plant through a solution of calcium hydroxide (or sodium hydroxide). The calcium ion solution becomes calcium carbonate (insoluble), but on further carbonation of the water, becomes calcium bicarbonate (soluble). The sodium ion solution becomes first sodium carbonate, then sodium bicarbonate.
Inconvenient, clumsy and expensive, but it sequesters carbon dioxide, at least temporarily. Carbon dioxide is an important industrial chemical, both as the compressed gas and as a substance known by the trade name “Dry Ice”.
Carbon dioxide is also plant food, and has less than 0.5% of the effect on the temperature of the atmosphere that water vapor exerts ALL THE TIME.
Maybe fill a gigantic baloon? There is a simple phrase to describe Chu and his supporters. It goes something like: dumber than a box of rocks.
The is the new economy. Insiders use governmental laws and regualtions to create a market for something that nobody would pay money for otherwise and then start the “business” which profits from that artificial market.

There is no safe way to store captured CO^2!
It must all be destroyed by converting it to inert lead & aluminum oxides and diamonds!
(Need I tag it?)
In Texas, we call that an......explosion. Thems is usually bad.
It's a good point, though. The left doesn't want to store nuclear waste underground for the same reason - release of the waste should a local disaster occur. For all the CO2 they want to store under pressure, the stored energy would vastly exceed the energy of a nuclear device.
Thanks
I was thinking something more along the line of Lake Nyos in Africe, where some event causes a massive CO2 cloud to be released, smothering thousands of people.
That's bad, too. The entire concept of capturing CO2 as a gas and somehow storing it indefinitely is so patently absurd that it defies all logic. To think someone so stupid that he thinks he can make money off of this as Chu does, ran the Obama scientific community, is hard to comprehend.
