Two and a Half Cheers for Ryan-Murray
The American Spectator ^ | 12-18-13 | Peter Farrara

y life’s work is devoted to cutting the federal government in half. In fact, I have published detailed plans regarding how to do that (it’s called entitlement reform), in far too many places already (just a start on what needs to be done), including in my 2011 book, America’s Ticking Bankruptcy Bomb (HarperCollins), in this column, and with every free market think tank tuned in to the real world.

In fact, I’m probably the only person in Washington who thinks the legislation that would have that effect over the long run can and quite possibly will be enacted within the next 10 years (politics operates in cycles, like a pendulum, thank you Barack Obama). And I have worked directly on that project with Paul Ryan — he is one of the few people in America who understands that if these reforms are done right, the poor, seniors, those in need of health care, working people, America, and the taxpayers will all be vastly better off.

I say that so you know where I am coming from in analyzing the Ryan-Murray budget deal.

What’s in the Deal The deal involves an exact compromise between the federal discretionary spending totals proposed in Ryan’s 2014 Republican budget ($967 billion) passed by the House and Murray’s 2014 Democrat budget ($1.058 trillion) passed by the Senate earlier this year, setting federal discretionary spending for 2014 at $1.12 trillion. That result was effectively set by how your friends, neighbors, and fellow Americans voted last year. So calling that “A Huge Republican Cave-In” is not accurate.

reflects how the American people, or at least those who showed up at the polls (note), voted last year, and that is who Congressional Republican leaders work for.

Which half are they working for?

"and that is who Congressional Republican leaders work for.

So under that logic, if you operate a business, you only appeal to your current customer base. You never do anything to encourage that guy/gal that walks past your business every day to stop in so you can make them a repeat customer.

Usand not them won the election. Which election? The election. The American people election.

"They did win the election,” said Ryan, R-Wis. That's what I tell all my constituents who are worried about this. They won the election.

Ryan has become a Washington insider. Your pensions, 401k’s, IRA’s and retirement funds are not safe as long as he’s in office. He’s left of hillary as far as confiscation of retirement funds are concerned. He’s going after ALL retirement funds. The railroaders (me included) haven’t went on strike since 1950. Ryan wants to take away the railroad pension (which is fully funded by railroad employees, and has nothing to do with SS), and roll that jackpot into the SS system. Keep this up, and the railroaders will go on strike, AND we will grind this country to a halt. This isn’t a union thing, this is Americans standing up for fellow Americans. You want Galt? What if the American movers give the feds the collective middle finger!

After I posted that, I started to think I got the analogy wrong. You are right, they drive away their customers with false advertising, abusive customer service, and a defective product. Then they stand with their business failing, blaming all their former customers.

Yep. And you will still see FReepers lamenting that Romney only lost because millions of customers did not buy his half-baked mis-labeled products. And it is somehow the customers fault.
