Federal workers’ job satisfaction falls, with Homeland Security Dept. ranking lowest...(waah)

Federal employees who deal with homeland security matters remain some of the government’s least-satisfied, as overall workforce morale hit its lowest point in a decade, according to a report that began ranking agencies on such issues in 2003.

Government-wide job satisfaction continued its downward slide for the third straight year, dropping to 57.8 percent, a decline of 7.2 points from its high of 65 percent in 2010. Last year, job satisfaction was at 60.8 percent.

The Department of Homeland Security, a perennial bottom-dweller in the “Best Places to Work in the Federal Government” rankings, marked its third consecutive year of decline and its second straight year of being last among the 19 largest agencies.

Its 46.8 percent job-satisfaction rating put DHS nearly 30 points behind the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, which, like last year, ranked as the No. 1 place to work.

The Best Places list gauges employee satisfaction based on the Office of Personnel Management’s annual “Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey” of the government’s more than 2 million workers. The listings have become a source of competition and concern, as well as a cause for bragging rights among agencies, which are categorized by size.

Gee, sorry guys that your morale is flagging. Maybe your morale problem is because your consciences are bothering you.

Nah.

More likely the morale is flagging because the proles don't worship you and despise your attempts to "transform" the country into a socialist workers paradise.

Sounds like the perfect set-up for a whole new slew of taxes to “right this wrong”. Job satisfaction is under funded.

Nobody should ever talk to these people when traveling.

Don’t look at them.
Don’t interact with them.
If asked a question, give one word answers.
Move as slowly through the line as possible.
Drop your stuff on the floor on purpose.
Cough on them. Sneeze on them.
Flinch in pain each time they touch you.
Make their work enviroment awful

I work at an airport. We now have DHS "police" wandering around here w/ sidearms strapped to their legs.

Beware my FRiends of the militarization of every federal agency--this is how they by-pass Posse Comitatis.

Used to be that Federal workers made a lower wage but got much better benefits than the rest of us. Now they make a higher wage AND get the better benefits. And around 40% of the new jobs ‘created’ since the Bamster moved into the WH are FED JOBS. Just a higher burden on the taxpayers. Quitcher whining, Civil Servants!

Unless you are as corrupt as your leaders, who in their right mind would want to work for the current gubmint? Indeed those folks need paychecks but lowering yourself to the standards their current leadership have set is IMO, way over the top.

This government is all about employing the marginally employable. Clearly some of these workers are stressed by having to actually get off the couch at home and come to work a boring job.

I just wish they would computerize it and have them click icons on a screen all day to complete the hell of work.

Unemployment in America ain’t as bad as it used to be. Food, clothing, shelter and health care all provided with TV and a cell phone vs a cardboard box on a ventilation grate in “the city” with wine subsidized by panhandling.

That’s Progress!

As we entered Walmart yesterday one of those assholes was just exiting. I expressed to my wife after the thug passed my contempt for his kind and she said she was thinking how arrogant the guy acted.

Constructively speaking, they need to clean up their act. Uniforms need to be that of a LEO, not a combat BDU. They need to realize “Protect and Serve” is not protecting and serving the Democrats and the Marxists, but to protect and serve the Constitution and the citizens, and act accordingly and treat people accordingly. They are not above the people, they are the peoples public servants.

I would make this comment. When the Army went to everyone having a beret, the special ops guys suddenly became just regular people. They came to realize this within weeks.

If everyone went out and bought a BDU green uniform, with black boots, and a military style hat....then started to wear it through the airports as they traveled, then the TSA guys would realize in a hurry that they weren’t special.

It’s the same thing with thugs who wear the pants that hang six inches lower on the waist than they should, or the female dimwits who wear halter tops three sizes too small.

Get your friends and relatives to simply buy BDU’s and turn the airport into some mind-game.

Ya mean that army of fed workers inside the beltway making far more than 100K per BEFORE benefits are not happy. Too F in bad. Well, they can always quit and find a job more to their liking. It will not pay as well as one needs to be capable of earning six figure incomes in whatever job they hold.

Full disclosure. I have a significant amount of family who are gov workers (fed and State).

Don't care. I really don't. See, I have worked in the real world. No one gives two rats how you feel.

And considering how many of the Fedgov workers are acting like an enemy force (That is you my NSA agent), I am glad they at least feel a little blue about it.

I see your point perfectly. I recall visiting the 5th Special Forces a few times in Nha Trang, and what made them stand out was their Green Beret. I also recall SSG Barry Sadler’s “Ballad of the Green Beret” which which popularized the beret and made it unique to special ops.

When the Army came out with the beret for all, I wanted to puked, I just thought the garrison cap looked good, and for dress occasions the saucer cap.

I wonder if the Cav still gets to where their cowboy hats?
