The Republicans did not do the right thing: remember the crude tongue-lashing that Chester Trent Lott, Jr., gave to the late Henry Hyde when the articles of impeachment were sent over. Trent wouldn’t let a full hearing proceed. Later Trent goes into business with liberal Sen. John Breaux.
