Duck Dynasty has been sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.
By now you probably know that A&E indefinitely suspended Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, for following the teachings of the Holy Bible. Nothing says tolerance and diversity by silencing the Christians and shoving them in a closet.
Between you and me, I think Duck Dynasty ought to indefinitely suspend A&E.
Phil ran afoul of intolerant leftwing bullies after making comments about homosexuality to GQ magazine. When the writer asked Phil what he considered to be sinful behavior, he replied:
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says.
Then he paraphrases Paul’s letter to the Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
That comment went over about as well as a Chick-fil-A sandwich at a gay pride parade.

Translation: “We are so used to changing the meaning of everyday words that we are offended when someone takes those words and encourages the common understanding and is then critical or our “new and progressive understanding” of words.”
If you believe that this employer can fire him for words said off work hours, then do you support your gay friendly workplace (virtually all except a few notable exceptions have their “gay pride month” set asides, their tolerance and diversity training political reeducation for employees, etc.) canning you for even posting on this forum?
I’m sure A&E was within their contract rights. I agree... I’m sure Phil knows that. He is standing on principles.
Wrong. Freedom of religion means you cannot be discriminated against by an employer for your religious views.
They never did. They were already wealthy before the show. They need no one but God.....................
He didn’t MAKE this remark on air, and he was ASKED.
If there can only be one answer that is “legal” then you have already surrendered to the Gaystapo. Heil Hysteria.
Rush just said that Phil apologized. I sure hope he didn’t.
Watch for Phil to be airbrushed out.

It's almost as if these gentlemen only pretend to care about the First Amendment, and are really more interested in using their bigoted, stupid shows to preach anti-Christian hate....

Would you support an employer’s right to terminate any employee who marches in a gay pride parade?
So, A&E is against Christian values and is going to great lengths to prove it.
He likely wasn’t an employee to be fired. He was working under a contract with A&E. I’d bet you a lot of money the verbage of the contract gives A&E the right to terminate the contract for various reasons. They’re stupid for doing so... but I’d be they are within their rights. This had to be approved by “legal” before they make that kind of move.
A&E can’t handle free speech it’s going to be a big back lash for them.

This is a Conservative issue.
If it’s too much for you to handle, don’t look.
You don’t need quotes. You already see businesses who won’t participate in same-sex “weddings” losing lawsuits in court. Phil is the victim of the left’s desire to steal free speech rights from Christians, another one of their tactics. The new mantra is you can practice your religion in private, just not in public. You can’t pray in school but they can send homosexual representatives to your children’s schools to teach them how to practice homosexuality.
This was bound to come to a head.
Their beliefs that they express on the show are patently offensive to A&E and the leftists there.
As Rush just said, it’s very likely that the DD guys are intentionally using the show as a ministry and expected this to come up eventually.
