A&E declares war on 'Duck Dynasty's' Christian values
Fox News ^ | Dec. 19, 2013 | Todd Starnes

Duck Dynasty has been sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.

By now you probably know that A&E indefinitely suspended Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the Duck Dynasty family, for following the teachings of the Holy Bible. Nothing says tolerance and diversity by silencing the Christians and shoving them in a closet.

Between you and me, I think Duck Dynasty ought to indefinitely suspend A&E.

Phil ran afoul of intolerant leftwing bullies after making comments about homosexuality to GQ magazine. When the writer asked Phil what he considered to be sinful behavior, he replied:

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says.

Then he paraphrases Paul’s letter to the Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers -- they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

That comment went over about as well as a Chick-fil-A sandwich at a gay pride parade.

From what I understand, 2014 has already been filmed. As far as 2015 goes, who knows. As for me, there are several other programs I watched on A&E that I will no longer watch.

I almost wonder if this is a calculated move on Phil’s part to get let go. I always got a feeling that he was not much interested in being on the show and could take it or leave it. Maybe he was done and he chose to go out his way.

Correct! This is one reason the battle line needs to be drawn early.

"Rush just said that Phil apologized. I sure hope he didn’t."

Rush is wrong; it wasn't an apology. I heard Robertson's statement this morning on Fox and Friends. He said:

"I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior.

My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together.

However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

He pretty much reiterated his position on homosexuality while making it clear that he holds a hate the sin/love the sinner view, which is Biblical.

Wrong. Freedom of religion means that the federal government can’t establish a religion. It doesn’t mean that a TV station/network can’t stop the display of any non-employee they want to for expressing their religious views off screen. Phil Robertson is likely not an employee. Even if he was an employee (and therefore have protected religious views) it would be easy to take him off the air, just not terminate his employment.

Thanks for clarifying. I heard that statement, which I thought was fine.

So you can fire an employee for having an interview with a different entity that did not involve slander or pornographic language? Is that the excuse?

Then what was all of the liberal hysteria about the blacklisting of Communists about? It is still taught to kids in grade school through college as being a horrible time in America.

I’m past ready to hear the boys say, “We fully support and agree with our father, not only in his right to say what he believes, but in those beliefs.”

C’mon, boys.

So, the Duck Commander said something of his own opinion.
A&E Network, in it’s usual field of vision, made the decision that he, the Duck Commander, must be placed on a ‘hiatus’.

Was the ‘Duck Commander’ atutally, —an employee— of A&E Network? No.
Did the ‘Duck Commander’ say anything about Negroes? No.

He did speak his own opinion, that en choosing ‘to lie with men’, isn’t right.

That is what A&E Network, who by the way, admitted that they are, and have been yet unannounced as such, a staunch supporter of homosexuality.

Think of it. An American speaks his mind, and does so, knowing that he can, under the First Amendment, and Corporate America, is attempting to say that he cannot.

Who is wrong? I say that A&E Network is wrong, in both attempting to punish and silence a free American, in speaking what comes from his heart.

Do I give a hoot what, maybe, 1.5% of the American population may consider a constitutional way of life?

I do not condone, support, agree, and even believe they should be allowed the benefit of their seeing the next day, but that, like the ‘Duck Commander’, is my belief, and mine alone.

They are probably under contract with A&E. The smart thing for them to do is start giving as many interviews as possible in which they back up their dad and repeat what he said regarding the queers. Let A&E fire them. They can go somewhere else, and the fag supporters at A&E can go to hell.
