“Prior to the “civil rights movement”, blacks enjoyed the same social mobility and legal protections as anyone else, had access to education,” - - Not Hardly.

But, as people have pointed out, LBJ’s War on Poverty resulted in more poverty and more disfunction. I would also add that the ‘60s counter-culture did enormous damage to the AA community. Middle class white hippie kids could get out of drug busts while the people they bought drugs from in the inner city could not. Same for the draft.

Dear Chloe, English is our FRIEND you stupid twit!

To Wit, Twit: “...and now he’s offensive hate language is continuing!...”

Yo! BIMBO, how bout “his offensive...”

BTW, blacks WERE better off BEFORE demoKaRATZ “gave” them “civil rights.”

Seems I remember, post civil war, blacks being fully integrated into the military. Blacks voting. Blacks running for, and being elected to political office. Blacks working for the government.

Then came RATZ progressives like WOODY (small one) Wilson, who absolutely HATED blacks. Had them FIRED from their government jobs. Fired from the military. Segregated after that and consigned to the most menial MOS.

Made SURE blacks could NOT vote.

And on and on. I know, I’m preaching to the choir here.

Chloe, you are stupid. You are probably ugly as hell as well, (at least your soul certainly is.) And you are soo ignorant of history, that you are a laughing stock.

Hey, Squawking Point Parrot Head, go drink some more wine and find a good pajama boi to “hook up” with for the night.

What a TWITT!

I think Phil was just making an observation about the change in attitudes. I don't think he was suggesting civil rights should have never happened.

You're right. I've been around a little longer than Phil has and can say with certainty the country was well on its way to healing civil rights inequities before the 60s. But LBJ and the New Left saw a golden political opportunity, using charges of racism as a wedge issue, that's now paying bigger dividends than ever. They also saw that Blacks could be radicalized (Black Power movement, Black Panthers, Jesse Jackson ad nauseum) to help the socialists divide American unity and conquer. Marxism 101.

These people may as well get it over with and proclaim to the masses that the Robertson Family is holding a Kitten Barbeque for Christmas.

Mine too. I have opted out of most public life because I’m so sick of it.

But he never mentioned civil rights, he mentioned welfare. That belief is one of the cores of conservatism. The MSM is using those "quotes" bcause they're not quoting him.

At this point nothing would surprise me. I’m sure they’re aware of all the support on Facebook (now over 875,000 likes) not to mention the governor of LA & others supporting Phil and are probably getting desperate on how to discredit him. They’ll stop at nothing. Expect more negative articles out of Hollywood.

His statement is ignorant of the facts of black life prior to the mid 60s. That’s why he should quit. And apparently you are in the same level.

“I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once,” he said. “Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field … They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

What's wrong with that? He's recounting his experience as a youth.

The whiners. The professional offended class. I’m sick to death of every time someone says anything, someone is offended. If what was said wasn’t bad, they twist it until it appears bad. I’m just sick of it.

He did not say what they saying he said. They have "paraphrased" him using their own words, which chamge the meaning of what he said entirely. He said "welfare", not civil rights, and there's a difference. A distaste for entitlement programs is a traditional foundation of conservatism.

same response. Not a defender of the “Great Society” and subsequent entitlement programs, but if you don’t know what the first half of the 20th century was like for most blacks, do some reading.

It is not what he said it is HOW they worded it!

Slow down take a deep breath and re-read it.

Phil first made headlines for comparing gay people to prostitutes, drunkards, and slanderers. He said gay people won’t go to heaven and that being gay could lead to bestiality.

Actually, he didn't say any of that. He did not "compare" gay people to other sinners, he listed gay sex as a sin, along with the others. He also listed adulterers, that doesn't mean he was saying adulterers are like drunkards.

He didn't say that being gay would "lead to" beastiality", he said that gay sex was a sin, and beastiality was a sin. I'm waiting for pro-animal-sex people to complain about the gay groups slut-shaming them this way.

And of course, his remark about blacks was not that "all blacks were happy before civil rights". It was just that the blacks he hung out with were happy.

"...Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

What you fail to see in his comment is that he is saying that SINCE they were "godly people", they were happy.

He isn't "ignorant" of any "facts". Like my grandfather in-law, now deceased, he was working alongside them in the fields. Enduring many of the same hardships, he was considered "white trash". Are you aware of how "white trash" was treated back in the day? Not nearly as bad as blacks, but pretty damn close.

Instead of grumbling and bitching about their plight, they found the positive and magnified that.

I stand with Phil on this, he's a godly man who is doing his level best to educate the millions of morons running loose in this country as to what TRUE happiness is and through whom it comes. Jesus Christ.

read it three times. Same comment. He’s generalizing from the few blacks he knew.
